This is effectively what I used to do when I was dual booting Arch and Windows except I did it in software. If you want a guaranteed working dual boot just swap the boot device in the UEFI, don't fiddle with bootloader nonsense.

I have been Linux only in the past, on a laptop that had a modest Nvidia card but I had zero issues Then I bought the gaming pc and dual booted and got a lot of issues So wish me luck because this is kind of a lottery lol
