Young people made the difference this election. Its time for @ASU to pass the #youthpowerreforms to cancel class on Election Day & stop spending OUR tuition $ on lobbying. Preparing us for the future mean protecting our democracy!

Happy Halloween! While we love frights this spooky season, this one goes *too* far. We'll stick with the monster mash, rather than candidates who want to take away our rights + refuse to concede if they lose!

Arizona Republican Kari Lake would not commit Sunday to accepting the results of her upcoming election for governor if she loses.

psst: you can easily see how much your Senator gets from big pharma on websites like @OpenSecretsDC. a broken democracy isn't a hypothetical problem; it looks like diabetics rationing insulin because members of Congress won't stand up to their donors.
Here's your list of every Republican senator who voted AGAINST making insulin affordable: (1/4) John A. Barrasso, WY Marsha Blackburn, TN Roy Blunt, MO John Boozman, AR Mike Braun, IN Richard Burr, NC Shelley Moore Capito, WV John Cornyn, TX Tom Cotton, AR Kevin Cramer, ND

Politicians make it harder for us to vote because they know that if we were able to actually make our voices heard, they'd lose their jobs, their donors would lose profits, and most importantly, popular policies would ACTUALLY PASS.

ASU spent almost $500,000 on political lobbying in just 2021 alone! That’s equivalent to almost 71 individual in-state students’ tuition annually.

We all know that big money in politics and restrictive voting laws means that our generation never sees urgency from institutions. That’s why we’re organizing with fellow Sundevils to ask ASU to get OUR tuition money out of a broken democracy and advocate for pro-voter laws!

Young people have the numbers + the power to make a real difference in elections. That means that politicians need to listen to our demands if they want to win our votes: action on the climate crisis, gun violence, and the cost of higher ed.

Young people are BEGGING our reps to take action on climate change, but SCOTUS just ruled to limit the EPA’s ability to regulate carbon emissions. This is boon for fossil fuel executives that hurts literally everyone else who has a stake in a liveable climate (i.e. everyone).
🚨 BREAKING 🚨: SCOTUS newest ruling - WV v. EPA - just gutted the EPA’s ability to keep us safe from toxic pollution under the Clean Air Act.

Dems are using the Dobbs decision to fundraise for their campaigns, which 1) is disgusting and 2) demonstrates a larger problem in our political system: money matters more to politicians than actually working to pass popular and urgent policies. We must get money out of politics.

In this moment, remember, there are two kinds of power in this world: organized people and organized money. We as young people may not have much money, but we CAN organize ourselves and our communities to fight for the futures WE need.
