We may have passed the shortest day, but the days are still pretty dark. We have two light adjustable lamps available to borrow - one in each library office. π

Following our recent trial of Brick, we have found the devices a permanent home. When you want to use Brick, head to shelf outside the Law Library (10 Merton St) and the shelf at the bottom of the staircase in the Old Library. π #universitycollegeoxford #UnivLibraryExtras

We have had a shelf swap! Our temporary display features books from the Women's bookshelf and the Welfare collection. In the Old library you will find some titles usually kept in the New Library and vice versa! Enjoy browsing and please borrow in the usual way ππ #Univ

Students! It's time to lock in. π You can now block distracting apps using our new Brick device, available in both libraries. We'd love your feedback during the trial period: just scan the QR code on the library noticeboards and let us know if it is helping! #studentlife

Today in #raritiesrevealed we showcased our schlaraffenland map, or βmap of utopiaβ. This is a very detailed but fictitious map of human vices, where utopia is placed at the top, hell at the bottom and human folly in the middle. #universitycollegeoxford

One of the more curious prints we have framed in the library office is this deterrent to book theft, in an elaborate gothic font. Yes it sounds old, but is in fact an early 20th Century hoax by a New England Librarian named Edmund Lester Pearson. π #universitycollegeoxford
