Been playing golf for over 60 years. Made my second hole in one today at

grande dunes. 135 down wind 9 iron that never left the flag. Fortunately only 4 of us. Got away with 50 dollars of drinks.
Everyone talks about great resort golf around the US and beyond. Quite frankly - it doesn't get much better than Barefoot Resort in Myrtle Beach. 4 courses designed by Dye, Fazio, Norman, and Love. Great facilities and a wonderful staff. Driving range is huge.
Aside from some of
So I needed 3 grips put on my wedges. Walked into pga superstore and asked how long would it take. 48 hours! Are you f Ing kidding me? Did them myself the next day.
Pet Peeve - Every course (especially resorts) should have these on their carts. (That's every course in Myrtle Beach) Not always dead on - but close enough as a double check plus hole design. Also gives the pro shop the ability to see where everyone is and who might be slow
Let the fighting begin - my top 5 courses in Myrtle Beach - no privates. In no particular order
Kings North -
True Blue
Caledonia Golf and Fish Club
TPC
Rivers Edge
I'll put my next 5 up later -
The excitement mounts On my way to a 36 hole Tuesday with my 3 buddies. Youngest is 69! River club in the morning and TPC Myrtle Beach in the afternoon. Going to be an awesome day. Got 12 cigars and a full flask! I’m ready
The worst feeling in golf is not the shanks, it's the yips. I had them BAD. Ended my tournament playing days in my mid 40's. I had no chance of making short putts, I'd double hit them, miss 2 feet right or left, and then one day in a tournament, I had a 2 footer and I couldn't
There seems to be a lot of jealousy from WNBA players and coaches over the attention Caitlin Clark is getting. The NBA was dying until Bird and Magic saved it. Michael Jordan continued that on. The league needs to focus on those stars that bring people in. Clark does that - no
What do you think the ratings of the Master's will be if Phil or Tiger are at or close to the lead saturday or sunday. I know I'm glued to the TV if that happens. I would expect record numbers. Last year I was on the edge of my seat as Phil climbed the leaderboard on Sunday.
River Oaks - Myrtle Beach. One of the worst conditioned courses down here..... BUT NO MORE! Talked to the super and he had a 5 year plan, it's working. Fairways were very good, greens slow but smooth, greens held pretty well. The layout is interesting but won't bowl you over.
TPC Myrtle Beach - a fantastic facility from the clubhouse to the practice area, and of course the layout. Great conditioning, terrific holes. I was playing with a gentleman that helped build several courses in the MB area. This was his first time at TPC. His comment - not one
Can’t wait for tomorrow. Tuesday. Early tee time at grande dunes resort in the morning and an afternoon tee time at pine lakes. The week after Easter is much quieter in Myrtle Beach I love 36 holes in a day with my golf buddies
Major pet peeve! I hate cup liners! You can't convince me that they don't make the hole smaller! And some of them stick up too far. (sorry for the upside-down pic)
What golfers today don’t understand is that Arnold Palmer brought golf to the masses. Before then it was a country club game. Palmer was us and everything we golfers wanted to be. Long live the king and thank you for your career. I was in arnies army
Played Rivers Edge (my

layout in the MB area) for the first time since a new owner came in. OMG - what an upgrade. He's spending the money needed to update a great Palmer track. Redid the clubhouse, new top end carts (though I wonder why anyone would use black seats in our
Grande Dunes Resort course may be the best public facility in Myrtle Beach. While GD is an excellent track - the facility is far more than that. First rate clubhouse, a restaurant with a menu worthy of a private club. And the practice facilities are worthy of holding a PGAT
I keep seeing references to scratch players and distance off the tee. Do you have to play the tips to be considered a scratch golfer - if so why? I'm early 70's hit it 215 off the tee and play the senior tees at most courses to a 0 to 2 most of the time. Am I a scratch player? I
Let's talk about superstitions on the golf course. Here's my three. I tee my ball the same way every time with the logo facing the target, I change balls if I've made two bogeys or a double, if someone putts before me and leaves their ball in the hole I won't putt until it's
When I asked can a golfer be a scratch without playing the tips. It wasn't about my game - it was a legitimate question of what makes a scratch golfer. Here's my opinion. I don't consider myself a "scratch" player because I'm playing the senior tees. If I moved back a tee box and
Played Hackler - I rate it one of the best value courses in Myrtle Beach. The layout is playable if not memorable, greens rolled smooth at 9.5 and have been good all winter, very smooth cart paths. New clubhouse coming.

is one of the toughest short par 4's around. If you're
Tonight's lesson - Old Man Disease
This lesson was taught to me by my father when he turned 60. My father was a great ball striker. Played an E-0 George Bayer driver with a face like a NY Deli pastrami sandwich. Placed 2nd 5 times in the scratch club championship. His problem
Looking forward to tomorrow morning. 8.30 at world tour. 1.50 at grande dunes. 4 old guys that love playing golf. Youngest is 69
It’s our Tuesday scratch 4 some

If you’ve never played competitive golf you can’t understand. You don’t get to pick up after a double. Good for Charlie for taking on the task with everyone watching
Could you play 7 days a week - every week? I have a friend whose nickname is "every day". He truly plays every day with an occasional miss here and there. He's mid 40's and a very good player. I'm good with 4 or 5 a week, probably average 3. Need time at home to help with my
The Pearl in Calabash NC. Good tough course, fairly tight with several truly great Par 5's. Formerly 36 holes now 27, I recommend the North and West 9s - East has some great holes - but the routing is choppy. Greens rolled at 9.5 smooth and difficult to read putts. Fairways are
Played Wachesaw Plantation in Myrtle Beach yesterday. One of the 6 private clubs in the area. Fazio design, it's a great layout in fantastic condition. I rank it second behind Dunes Club. Great routing with some very difficult holes. Thankfully after the rain, the very sloped
Blackmore in Myrtle Beach. Been awhile since I played this fun course. Good layout for a fader. Designed by Player, it's got some tightness and several placement holes off the tee.

is a double fairway (see video). It also has 2 terrible par 4's that I don't understand why he
With the all day rain in Myrtle Beach we decided to drive a couple hours north and west to play golf out of the rain at Hartsville CC. Was expecting to play a typical small country course, however, we were surprised to play an excellent layout with very good greens smooth and
Golf would not be where it is now without Arnie. He isn't the GOAT - but he was the one that grew the game beyond a group of elitists. No knock on Tiger - definitely the better career - and did drive the game forward - but unless you were there to witness Arnie's Army in
Played River Hills in Myrtle Beach - it is in very fine condition. This course flies under the radar but is in my top 10 in MB. Tough but fair track - it will challenge you on so many holes and shots. With the fairly new expanded greens - the targets are right there if you can
Played whispering pines today. Next to the Myrtle Beach airport. Greens are awful. Not a great layout. Inexpensive. Played cause that’s where the game was. Not sure I’ll ever play it again unless I have to
Played Sunridge Canyon in Scottsdale today. Really interesting layout. Fairways generous on most holes, but if you miss them, you're dead. I enjoyed the layout - until I hit a couple of shots off the tee I really liked, and they ended up dead! Greens were IMPOSSIBLE to read.
After posting my Old Man Disease lesson I learned something new.
There are a lot of old farts that play golf on X. Good to be among this prestigious group
Phoenix CC - 1898 what a fabulous layout. Let's get the bad out of the way.... I'm thinking... OK worst I can come up with is that the range is well away from the clubhouse and not long enough for drivers for anyone with some length. Now that we've gotten that out of the way.
How good are you at golf. Assuming 20 million golfers I expect I’m around the 3 millionth in the country. I can break par on easier courses but the long tough ones will be normally 75 to 80 except for a rare day like at moon valley in phoenix when I bettered my age. For 73 and up
Grande dunes resort course in Myrtle Beach is a tier one. Solid if not spectacular. Well designed not the toughest course on the strand but requires you to hit the ball well to score. Greens are tricky in some areas and are typically quick
Had to put my Ping CrazE in putter jail after 2 bad putting rounds. Pulled out my Backstryke out of solitary confinement and put it to work on Kings North. Made everything I should have made (except for 2 bad reads) and a couple of 20 footers.
Who else uses Putter Jail to teach a
Hadn't played International Club in Myrtle Beach for at least 4 years. It was awful. Played a game there today - what a turn around! The owner sold the driving range for housing and has been putting money into the course. New carts, new paths coming. The greens were good about
Played World Tour with Jordan today, we met on X. Course was in really good condition, fairways were awesome, greens good and fairly quick. A fun course and great facility with a very nice practice facility. It's in my top 30 courses in Myrtle Beach and a recommended play. We
I was asked to suggest some mid budget golf courses in Myrtle Beach. (Don't remember by who - so I hope he sees this.
Top two - River Hills and Wild Wing (great layouts that have been in very good condition)
The rest are all solid that I like playing and are in no particular
Myrtlewood palmetto course. An old style course with several dog legs in both directions. If you like classic but playable courses you’ll enjoy palmetto. Good condition and has one of my favorite holes in Myrtle Beach not on a marsh

. It’s worth playing
Aberdeen CC in Myrtle Beach. Not on everyone's radar and doesn't get the respect it deserves. A good design, fairly tight, and playable with 3 rock solid Par 5's. Course is well maintained. Greens were smooth running about 9. Because of all the slopes, you really don't want to
So I got stuck! playing 5 rounds in a row. Tough for an old man like me, but not complaining. Different challenges at each course. Wachesaw Plantation - 72 Kings North 76 Southcreek a very disappointing 76. Pine Lakes 73 (with a very good back nine). By the time I got to
To all you aspiring golfers working to get your cap lower understand that this game is tough - confidence can go away in a heartbeat. My last 3 rounds - 77, 81, 76 Today - in very tough conditions it all came back and I shot my age 72 to end the year. It's a great game.
Played talking stick in Phoenix today. MEH. Best part of the day was the great cart seats. Not an interesting layout, can only truly remember one hole we played. On the plus, course was in good condition, fabulous overseed and the greens rolled pretty true for an afternoon round
So I'm scheduled to play Wachesaw Plantation today and this semi comes to deliver to my house - which is the wrong address. My driveway and property are not set up for an 18 wheeler to get around all the trees, and of course he gets deeply stuck after breaking an irrigation line
After 36 holes at Founders Club and River Oaks today - I'm beat - will post the 2 courses tomorrow - PS - finished the last 9 even par to win some coin!
Do you ever practice this shot? Standing in the bunker with the ball way above your feet. You swing more on a baseball plane and the more loft on the club the more the ball will go left for right handers.
Not sure this is enough cigars to get me through the last 10 days of my brother’s and my quest to eat ribs play golf and for him poker from KC to phoenix to Dallas
It’s officially over. The golf rib and poker trip has come to an end for the undercover brothers. Two of the best weeks of my life that didn’t include undercover wife. And for those wondering I have 4 cigars left over
Undercover wife reads my tweets, and after 10 rib joints in 14 days, she wanted me to make some for her. (Yet to find even decent ribs in Myrtle Beach) Since I missed our 44th wedding anniversary, I was glad to oblige. 1 hour in the smoker then another 4 hours in the oven. At 3
Pinnacle Peak CC in Scottsdale. I'm having trouble where to begin. Is it about the great layout, the clubhouse, the practice facilities, or the hospitality. Let's start with the practice facility. Solid range, with a very good chipping facility where I learned that my ball rolls
The best chicken tenders and French fries in MB. By far Myrtle Beach National. Not kidding. Not even close Most of the founders courses serve these but not sure they do them as well. I eat these every Thursday after golf while the bets are being totaled up
So my can of peanuts are in the basket behind the seats and a squirrel grabbed them and ran off. You can see the holes in the lid. Then a hawk came down and went after the squirrel saving my peanuts. Later a buddy had a squirrel grab his cigar case. They are very aggressive
So, after playing Founders Club in the morning, we ventured over to River Club that afternoon. Always been a fan of River Club - a solid if not spectacular track. (no range) Great Par 5's, especially 11 and 18. 18 is an excellent risk reward par 5 with water on the drive and at
Update on my goal of using 1 sleeve of balls for the entire golf year. While I didn't lose a ball - this one is probably going to have to be taken out of play. Thinking I might not make my goal!
So - one of the reasons for driving from KC to Phoenix with my brother is to eat ribs along the way. Big plans for one of my favorite rib joints in Albuquerque Quarters BBQ, Been trying to get my brother there for 15 years, Finally going to make it happen! Been almost 20 years
Well, 36 didn't happen yesterday - and UCPGA set a personal record. First time ever I hit 5 balls into water in 18 holes! At world tour - 3,4,5,7, and 16. To be fair, the drive on 4 was perfect until it kept running, should have stopped 20 yards earlier, and on 16 I hit a low

Tough for golfers to not decelerate on the down swing and that causes fat or bladed shots. It's about controlling the swing. Most aren't good at that - and they don't practice it.
Crown Park. Best condition I've seen it in the last 7 years. However, if you're expecting similar conditions to Surf Club or TPC, you will be sorely disappointed. CP is a low end, less expensive round of golf. The course serves a purpose - golf for less money. Greens were covered
