aggressive reminder that insects, fairy shrimp, remipedes, and now copepods too (!!!) are a clade of crustaceans called Allotriocarida or literally "weird shrimp". Bugs is shrimps, by definition

For this #wormwednesday evening we have Prorhynchus, a freshwater flatworm that uses its penis stylet (here near the front) as a harpoon to catch prey. The stylet injects poison into the prey. The mouth and stylet share opening - further back the pharynx can be seen.

Pseudmecynostomum bruneofilum a long and slender acoel from the North Sea. It is unusually densely pigmented for an acoel and you can see the hexagonal borders between epidermal cells in the anterior (left) part #WormWednesday.
