UCAS will be providing further guidance after the Secretary of State for Education's recent announcement regarding schools, and examination and assessments. We will provide a further update on Friday.
Following recent announcements, UCAS has made the decision to extend the equal consideration deadline for all applicants.
The new deadline is now Friday 29 January at 18:00 (UK time)
We appreciate that this is a worrying time for many of you and we want to assure you that UCAS is working closely with national governments and examination awarding bodies to provide clarity.
We expect to be able to provide a further update on Friday 20 March.
We’re sorry for our tweet earlier today. We got the tone completely wrong. What we wanted to tell you about is our plans for three live shows to support you through results day next Thursday.
This afternoon examination regulators in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, announced that students who received A level or Welsh Bacc grades on 13 August 2020 that were lower than the ones predicted by their teachers, will now receive their Centre Assessed Grades.
Please be assured that all organisations involved in the higher education admissions process are working flat out to find a solution that’s efficient, fair, and in your best interest.

Universities & colleges will need to have received your ‘Centre Assessed Grades’ before they can make a decision on your application. We are working with the awarding bodies to receive revised grades as quickly as possible to pass them on your chosen universities & colleges.
The government has said your grade will be based on info from your teachers’ judgment using:
• Previous attainment, including GCSEs and mocks
• Non-exam assessment (course work)
• The grade your teachers believe you would have been awarded should exams have gone ahead

As always, we are working to do everything we can to support you. We will be in touch tomorrow with an update on the situation, and to explain any next steps.
If on 13 August you were not placed at your firm or insurance choice university or college, you should first speak with your parents/guardians and teachers to decide if you wish to take up your place at your first choice university or college.
