Among the many failings of the Jedi in the waning hours of the Republic, perhaps the most fateful was their invention of the dreaded "hybrid meeting format"

99% of the time I just want to do one thing with a coffee machine. This button menu with shared states and ambiguous descriptions is pretty bad UX for my goal

The climate transition contains many unknowns and difficult trade-offs. Here a discussion, with many questions and some answers. A key issue for policy makers: if the climate change and macro objectives conflict, what should prevail? https://t.co/O4KgWBKWYe @el_pais

The photographs alone tell a fantastic story—a mouse embryo, complete with beating heart cells, a head, and the beginning of limbs, alive and growing in a glass jar.

The city demolished a homeless encampment behind the Walmart after Walmart asked them to and also shortly after unveiling a new piece of public art across the street hailed as evidence yet again that Worcester is a city on the rise

1) Executive order effective immediately over riding the zoning rules in Long Beach and Los Angeles to allow truck yards to store empty containers up to six high instead of the current limit of 2. Make it temporary for ~120 days.

Meeting types and purpose are now more ambiguous. Less “this meeting could have been an email” More purposeful collaboration and effective meeting practices

Insights from interviewing remote professionals: The pandemic has transformed the calendar into a home base for planned collaboration. People are in back-to-back “meetings” - many that used to be serendipitous whiteboarding sessions.

First week of product testing with early users. Direct user feedback, new bugs, unexpected scenarios, and usage patterns that indicate we still have a lot of work to do. Now to iterate on learnings as quickly as possible.

Maybe #agile / #scrum has its place on some teams and I could be doing it wrong. But I’ve seen enough slipped dates, communication failures, and wildly varying sprint velocities to sense that we’re going through the motions rather than adapting to the reality of software

#kanban enables the team to focus on the efficiency of their tasks as they work towards that 6 week goal. Cycle time > velocity because teams can see the cycle time of each task and discuss how to improve process as a result

IMO, #kanban + 6 week milestone has shown promise. You have 6 weeks to work towards a larger goal that leaves enough room to de-scope less important details if necessary

“I’d like to see a clean board after this upcoming sprint” This is a myth. You’re either constrained by people, scope, or time. I’ve never seen a #sprint without some tasks carried to the next.

@stevendotjs @simonleggsays @valeriaberros Quick tips: Set a goal to make all tickets size 2. If they are smaller, round it up to size 2. It's about estimating order of magnitudes, not debate integers. If they are bigger, split them up or decrease the scope of the problem.

If you say you are feature-complete, but you haven‘t instrumented the product to be able to track basic usage metrics, you are not actually feature-complete. Generally good policy: Treat usage metrics like a P0 feature.
