My grandfather served in WWII under General Patton. Earned a Purple Heart when their Howitzer exploded. He drove fuel trucks on the front lines. He'd be rolling in his grave right now knowing what Trump and MAGA is doing because he fought against this exact thing.

The Fort Wayne & Jackson eventually was leased to New York Central and Penn Central, while Eel River (controversies aside) was leased to Wabash Railroad. The only one remaining is B&O, which is now CSX. the Garrett yard is just a shell of its former self.

Or to see the bustling village of Auburn Junction where the B&O, Eel River, Fort Wayne & Jackson, and the Garrett, Auburn & Northern Electric interurban all met and intersected. Complete with restaurants, hotel, and shops. Now just sits a handful of houses.

I wish I could experience the time of the canals and how it transformed into the explosive growth of the railroads. The majority of the towns we know are from railroads, including Garrett, IN, built by the B&O railroad and named after B&O president John Garrett.

Or that this angle cut through New Haven is the old Wabash & Erie Canal. Rose Ave used to be US24, and just a bit up the road to the east, they actually uncovered part of the locks when expanding US24 to 4 lanes to Toledo.

Doing some fun research and was following along the old Wabash & Erie Canal through Fort Wayne. I wonder if these people off Covington Rd. realize their driveway sits on top of it. Or if you are on Towpath Trail, you are along the old canal.

I also absolutely hate feeling like what I do or am involved in doesn't matter. I'm sorry I'm a genuine person and don't kiss ass to get ahead. Might as well be wearing a god damn invisibility cloak.
