We remember Valerie and Dwayne Jackson Sr., and the six children whose lives were cut short. Domestic violence and easy access to firearms are a deadly combination and tragedies like this are preventable. We owe it to their memory to keep fighting for safer communities.

San Antonio is grieving after 8‑year‑old Daniel Casares was unintentionally shot and killed by his 13‑year‑old brother. No adults were home when the gun discharged. This tragedy is all too common. Firearms are now the leading cause of death for kids across Texas.
The boy was handling a gun when it fired and struck his brother.
