We are saddened to hear of the death of Surinamese filmmaker Pim de la Parra, who died 6 September aged 84. His anticolonial drama WAN PIPEL (1976), is a pioneering classic of Caribbean cinema. We were proud to present it last year @BarbicanCentre. Condolences to Pim’s family.

Ian Harnarine was born in Toronto, Canada and is the son of immigrants from Trinidad & Tobago. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Physics & Astronomy and a Master’s degree in Nuclear Physics before becoming bored with Physics research and becoming a filmmaker.

Olivia De Camps was born in the US and raised in the Dominican Republic. Merging fiction and documentary, her work explores the beauty and complexities of women in Latin America and the Caribbean—often unheard and seldom explored in cinema. Olivia will join the Q&A online.
