A minor shift in the upper air pattern will improve the temps a little over the weekend, but we'll cool again later next week.

The Central Coast is experiencing a cool, start to the week with plenty of marine layer. A trough of low pressure brought some scattered light showers.

The upper low lingering off the coast has kept temps on the cool side. Slow warming inland is likely later this week.

Thoughts? Are happy hours dead? If so, what killed them? COVID, remote work, downsizing, Gen. Z doesn't drink as much, work-life balance?

Yes, hot tomorrow away from the beaches, but look how much cooler early next week is before more warming. The rollercoaster ride on temps continues.

A ridge of high pressure is getting stronger over the Central Coast compressing the atmosphere and launching warmer temps. But cooler-than-average conditions develop early next week.

Parade weather Saturday for Santa Maria. Mild temps and sun, but later in the day a few showers can't be ruled out, a minor chance.

Inland temps near records Friday, but you can see here temps likely peak Friday and head down over the weekend.

The ridge of high pressure and an upper low are both in the region through Friday. The low may pull up some moisture for some showers later Saturday. Then another upper low drifts in next week but this one will cool us down.

I talked about this last night, the developing tropical storm in the East Pacific Basin. The hurricane season here begins earlier than the Atlantic (May 15th). Storm leftovers will leak into Mexico and the southern border areas of the U.S.

This tropical depression will likely become "Alvin" on Thursday. It'll weaken as it hits the Gulf of California but some of this moisture will leak into the SW over the weekend and early next week.
