Does anyone have a good scan/transcript of the preface to Patrick MacDonald's Highland Vocal Airs? I have a modern reprint and it's hopelessly blurry…

I was using Charlie Gore's online tune index yesterday when it started 404ing. It's still down today. Does anyone know anything about it? https://t.co/QjeYaW2jNx

Five years ago this week @EydmannHeritage bought me a pint and suggested I move to Edinburgh and get a master's degree. Turns out that was a really good idea! Fingers crossed that five years from now I'll have Leave to Remain and a PhD!

Sure would be nice if this collection of music manuscripts made it into a research library! https://t.co/cQ5KGcLECQ

Aberdeen 1783. Can't say I've seen a four-hands harpsichord piece in the wild

NB: this is very much a tech talk that happens to mention music, not a music talk. You have been warned!😅

Hey @Dropbox @DropboxSupport , how am I supposed to do anything if dismissing this intrusive modal triggers a page refresh?

A sobering reminder as I lean on iconography for historical violin details. This is a painting from 2000 (now at auction)and I'm confident that the original violin: * had the chinrest on the other side * had 4 strings * had a different-shaped bridge * didn't have a hooked C bout

@RattledRig turns out I'd been listening to the Cullivoe fiddlers since I was young and just hadn't put two and two together!
