Mason County’s Brian Kirk receives his award at the Boys Sweet 16 after being voted KABC 10th Region Coach of the Year. Kirk led the Royals to a 19-4 record this season.
Blake Reed needs to be in the same conversation as Reed Sheppard and Travis Perry.
Reed with 47 points and went over 3,000 for his career in the loss to Mason County.
Say a prayer tonight for Mason County Coach Brian Kirk and his daughter Kyleigh. Kyleigh was admitted to Children’s Hospital and Kirk was headed to the hospital after the game this evening.
Appreciation post to Mason County’s Terrell Henry (
@terrell_henry23
). Henry finishes his career with 1,871 career points. That’s good for 6th all-time in Royals history. One of the best players I’ve ever covered. Rell will have his choice of football or basketball next year.
Just voted for Robertson County's Justin Becker for Mr. Basketball & I think others in the media should too.
Here's my main reason
Loyalty
Becker could have left RC & gone to play for any school in the region & form a super team. Becker stayed home & finished what he started
My grandma gained her wings today. Please pray for my family during this difficult time. I take peace knowing she’s no longer stuffering from alzheimer’s/dementia.

@DannyEWeddle
. What a career. I wouldn’t be where I am today without Danny. Forever the Voice of the Royals. I going to miss working with him tremendously. Thanks for everything.
Kudos to Kason Hinson on an outstanding career at Bracken/Augusta.
He handles himself with class on and off the floor and left everything he had on the court tonight.
He’s been fun to watch the last several years. Hopefully he’ll have some opportunities at the next level.

@becker1137

Augusta’s Grayson Miller won the Class A Region 5 meet this afternoon at Masterson Station Park in Lexington.
It’s Augusta’s first individual champion in XC.
We lost our co-worker Jean today, she was like family to all of us.
She kept the office in order. She would give the shirt off her back if you needed it. She could make you smile, laugh and would keep you on your toes.
Please join me praying for her family.
RIP Jean.💜
Mason County Schools will soon be getting a new turf football field. The Board of Education approved the measure by a 3-2 vote last night. The total cost of the project is $1 million dollars and completion is expected by next fall (September).

I lost my grandfather 18 years ago today. He watched his beloved Royals cut down the nets from his hospital bed & died a few days later. I started attending the Boys Sweet 16 in 2000 with him & my grandma. I’m fortunate now to call games on WFTM & continue our tradition.
Man, this would have made a great spot for the Boys 10th Region Tournament.
The Arena on the campus of Montgomery County High School.
Seats 4,200
Plenty of parking
10th Region School
Tonight was the final game for Mason Co Lady Royal Haley White.
White has been a big part of the Lady Royals program the last five years.
White has always been very respectful & wore the jersey with pride.
Best of luck in the next chapter Haley!
See you on the tennis court.
Here are the chairs for the teams for the Girls 10th Region Tournament at Nicholas County. They hope to add chairs from other region schools this week. Very cool touch. Love it.

Mason County's Terrell Henry on facing Clark County in the 10th Region Finals tonight:
"All we need is the 18 guys in this locker room to believe in ourselves. We believe and trust in the game plan Coach Kirk will provide for us."
Terrell Henry tonight with 3 catches for 142 yards and 2 TD’s in the win over Tates Creek.
Coach Wynn postgame, “If a Division 1 coach is listening you better offer Rell.”
Please say a prayer for my good friend Jason Butler and his son Luke. Jason was going to provide coverage today for the finals of the Chippeways, but his son Luke is in the hospital in West Virginia. Please send Jason and his son Luke your well wishes and say a prayer for them.
7 years ago today Pig Williams 3 at the buzzer would give Mason County a 72-70 win over Campbell County in the 1st Round of 10th Region Tournament.
The Royals would go on to win the region.
Just a reminder that Coach Kachler is the 🐐.
He took over XC and Track programs that were rock bottom and now has them dominating region and winning/contending for state titles.
I know girls basketball doesn’t get the following that boys basketball does, but I hope more Mason County fans show up and support the Lady Royals Friday vs Montgomery County in the Region Semifinals.
These girls play hard and deserve the support as well.
Congrats to Justin Decker on an outstanding career at Robertson County.
Becker will go down as one of the best players in 10th Region history and is to be commended for his loyalty to the Black Devils.
Augusta scorekeeper Brian Flaugher now has his place at the court after a surprise ceremony last night. Brian is a 4 time hall of famer, bleeds Augusta orange and is as dedicated as they come.
Former Augusta Coach Roger Newton shared this picture from last night.
Heck of a career
@Dub_Williams24
!
You’ve made all of Maysville/Mason County proud.
Thanks for being a great ambassador and a role model for so many young kids.
Mr. and Miss Basketball Awards tonight.
Here’s the 10th Region Players of the Year. Justin Becker of Robertson County and Allison Hughes Saint Patrick.
Two great players and young people. Best of luck to both tonight.

Hard not to pull for these Lyon County kids.
They return 4 starters and their star Travis Perry.
They’ll be preseason top 3 next season and have a chance to cut down the nets.
Appreciation post to Mason County QB Keshaun Thomas.
A joy to cover his hs career. The last three leading the team. 2 district titles, 1 region title & state semifinal appearance.
49 career TD passes 3rd all-time
3rd all time in career passing yards
A top 3 QB in MC in history
The job Coach Kachler has done is unreal. He took a program over in 2000 that didn’t know how to win or make it to state. A state championship is on the horizon. Coach Kachler is one of the best in the state.
Mason County principal Seth Faulkner presented the Sapp family a Royals jersey in memory of Tony “Sumo” Sapp. Sapp was a staple in the Region for his book and record keeping.
Tony passed away this fall and is missed by all.

You won’t find a coach who loves their kids more than Mason County’s Brian Kirk.
Coach Kirk was very emotional postgame, “We did it with our kids.”
I’ll post his comments later tonight.
Please say a prayer for Ron Bailey and his wife Penny.
Ron posted on his Facebook page that Penny has been admitted to the hospital with some serious health issues.
You won’t find two better people than Ron and Penny.
Landon Scilley scored his first career touchdown tonight.
Landon started playing football this season.
Scilley is a three sport athlete. Football, basketball and baseball. Good kid with all kinds of talent.
Mason County QB Keshaun Thomas signed this afternoon to play football at Centre College.
Thomas will play in the secondary.
Thomas will go down as one of the best QB’s in Mason County history.
Morehead State University Athletic Director Kelly Wells was the speaker at the Maysville Rotary Club today.
Coach Wells led the Royals to the 2003 State Championship.
Mason County defeats Clark County in the 10th Region Semifinals 6-3 to advance to the championship game.
The Royals are back in the finals for the first time since 1994!
The Region Champs in 2001 and 2003 from Mason County wishing best of the luck to the 2022 Royals vs Bardstown Friday night in the 3A State Semifinals.
Appreciate
@Mr_spangyspang7
for working hard and putting this together.
Hope you guys enjoy!
Mason County Senior Haley White signed (virtually) today to play tennis at Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tennessee. The Railsplitters complete in the South Athletic Conference at the Division 2 level. (Photos credits to Haley’s mom, Tammy White)
@tscaggswftm
No Region like the 10th Region. God Bless the Bishop Brossart and Mason County Fans for finishing the National Anthem after the audio failure!
Heck of a season by the Royals. This team was counted out and written off before the season. Losing 85 percent of their scoring and seven seniors from a year ago. The Royals went toe to toe with the 10th Region Champs and just came up short.
Mason County and Tennessee legend
@clofton606
joined me at halftime of the Woodford County vs Elizabethtown game.
Chris has NEVER forgotten Maysville/Mason County!
