The older you get the more likely you are to be able to do this.
Not because you get smarter but because more of them are likely to ache at any given time.
Mom missed an emergency call from my aunt because she doesn't answer the phone because of scam callers because we ceded out critical communication infrastructure to bad actors because everybody just kind of decided this is okay.
Now she needs to call all of her siblings-in-law, each of whom probably won't answer because they won't answer the phone because of scam callers, and on and on it will go...
My wife doesn't understand why I changed my phone number again due to spam texts and calls. It honestly wasn't that I was getting spam texts and calls as much as it was because I was missing legitimate calls and texts because I stopped assuming they were legitimate.
President Donald Trump would have gotten every single American, interpreter, and piece of equipment out of Afghanistan. The man understood optics. The media's kid glove treatment of Biden enabled this disaster.
When I saw Jennifer Connelly's name trending, I didn't think she was dead... but I definitely didn't think it would track back to "Back in the 90's she was considered mid."
My friends, I was there. She was not.
For those of you having difficulty understand why people don't trust the vaccine, let me shed some light on the matter. A thread:
Imagine you're a normal person, and you come back from your men's rights group meeting and you log on to a gaming review website and 1/
@hassankhan
What's funny is that a lot of employers with these copious job skill requirements and unforgiving approach to resumes will then turn around and hire a guy who knows a guy.
And it works out fine!
But doesn't cause any reconsideration of the process generally.
@hassankhan
To jobboards: We only consider candidates with masters degrees and 10 years experience doing this exact job in our precise industry.
To existing staff: We're looking for someone to run some simple test scripts for our banking software division. If you know anyone let us know.
One of the hills that I will die on is that the citizenry did not fail some marshmallow test as a primary contributor to our failure, but that we have been failed by leadership across the board.
The Right: The left is grooming young kids sexually because they're perverts!
The Left: Is it supposed to be okay for a 30 year old to sleep with a 25 year old if she's still getting carded because she looks like she's 19? I don't think it's okay.
Covid Cases on 9/8:
USA: 55,692
Mars: 0
How did they do it?
* Aggressive social distancing
* No one out without masks
* Limiting size of indoor crowds
* No large gatherings of events
* Being an uninhabitable planet
Name one reason that couldn't have been us.
In ADDITION to denying the efficacy of the miracle drug ivermectin, the so-called medical experts do nothing but take a dump on the Alex Jones concoction you've been taking that have been helping you bulk up.
Yet we're supposed to believe them when 34/
This is the most supervillain picture of a world leader I have ever seen and that includes that picture of a bunch of world leaders holding a glowing orb.
I stand by my prediction that Facebook is the AOL of this generation. If it's around at all in 20 years, it'll be as a shell of current self in the public consciousness.
In

interview, Raffensberger sounded like he released recording of Trump interview as part of grudge against David Perdue. Shifty, evasive about circumstances. Timing questionable. A very bad look.

Because the applesauce has those rib things, you are invariably left with applesauce in the container that you can't get out!
Corporate America is stealing your applesauce@!@! You simply can't trust them or their drugs. 88/
The same media reporting on the vaccine is the one that lets you sign up for their paper online but to cancel you have to CALL AND TALK TO SOMEBODY.
How is that trustworthy?! 71/
Can't prove it, but one thing tonight suggests to me is that the Comey factor was overstated in 2016 and that Trump's support probably was what it was.
Hey Republicans: Remember the feeling when Scott Brown won Ted Kennedy's seat in MA? It's about to happen in reverse in AL. The allegations vs Moore are serious. The right thing is for him to step aside.
and Brie Larson wasn't even any good. She was stiff as a board. The whole movie was a feminist lecture. Count me out. But as soon as you say you don't care for the movie and call the lead actress an entitled bitch people call you a sexist. 166/
Remember two weeks to flatten the curve? Yeah that was a big lie. I mean, it was Trump who said it but the deep state made him. We can't trust a government that forces honorable presidents to say things they know aren't true. 112/
In the last twenty years ago criticizing the vapidity of John Lennon's Imagine has gone from one of those cranky quasi-contrarian anti-social rightwing things to a broadly accepted even if not fully agreed upon position
That, my friends, is what cultural progress looks like.
And schools! Let's talk about schools! They're nothing but CRT factories and also the government kept them closed FOR AN ENTIRE YEAR! Can you believe it?
So you decide you're going to homeschool, but then they act like you're a religious weirdo and 143/
And so the more they want you to take the vaccine, the more reluctant you get. If they would just respect your decision not to get the vaccine and never talk to you about it or talk about how they got the vaccine or show any sign of taking Covid seriously at all, then you'd 182/
The world has seen absolutely no meaningful technological progress in my lifetime - all we've had are faster and smaller computers, bigger networks, slightly more efficient machines and medicines. No true breakthroughs, no world-changing discoveries.
President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama have entered into a multi-year agreement to produce films and series for Netflix, potentially including scripted series, unscripted series, docu-series, documentaries, and features.
Argument: People didn't actually used to look older it's mostly just a function of prevailing styles at the time and the mental associations we make with chronology and age.
Counterargument:
while the politicians who are supposed to be taking this seriously instead fly on planes without masks. Those Hollywood starlets telling people to be careful are throwing parties and having sex. A lot of sex, probably. Which they wouldn't do if they took the virsu seriously. 213/
@ABCwillresist
My current phone number is a Delaware area code. I've never lived in Delaware and don't know anyone in Delaware. The entire point was to give me an area code to ignore.
OTOH Mom doesn't take my calls because she doesn't know anyone in Delaware.
Please make sure everyone knows Chris Rufo — who instigated the racist culture war against former Harvard President Claudine Gay — LIED ABOUT HAVING A MASTER’S DEGREE FROM HARVARD.
@Flippinsushi
A non-trivial number of people are saying the aggravation of spam calls is the receivers' fault for answering the phone, and others saying missed calls are the receivers' fault because they don't just answer anyway.
Honestly, my takeaway from this is less that people have terrible perception (though that’s part of it) and more that a lot of them genuinely do not comprehend what a percentage actually means
So I guess this is my Soundcloud moment, except I don't have a Soundcloud. I am, however, the editor-in-chief of the

This sounds like peak economics and all of that, but price reliability has economic utility. I'm not going to go into a Wendy's if there's a chance a burger is $2 and a chance it's $8.
My favorite fact checks are the ones like "We rate the claim 'alligators eat dogs' as 'Mostly False' because alligators eat dogs because the amphibians need food to survive."
Apparently this is an issue if there is an incident on a cruise ship that last stopped on US shores. There's no medical emergency exception to this. (Fortunately they worked it out and my aunt will recover.)
This may not be a popular opinion but couldn’t D’s and R’s compromise on voter ID by requiring it, but making ID’s free and very easy to get? Add in mandatory 2 weeks of early voting including weekends and after business hours?
Almost every defense I hear where it comes down to "If we'd been straight with the people they would not have responded correctly" has been something that has backfired.
People who are required by their employer to be at a particular place at a particular time should be paid for the time they are there.
Boarding for flight attendants, security checks for warehouse workers, and so on.
Every time you read a story about the royal family from ABC remember they killed a pedophilia story to get it and the only regret they have is someone leaked a tape saying so.
Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, will spend this Christmas, their first as parents to son Archie, apart from the rest of the royal family.
So three views of mine changed by the Pandemic:
1) We need universal banking
2) While I believe it an inevitability, we need to accelerate universal broadband (and my definition of "broadband" has gone up)
3) School boards are bad actually.
No, I don't believe that it is. Despair is not a medical condition. Neither is anxiety, anger, fear, etc. All of these are experiences natural and universal to the human condition.
God bless those who are going out there and working through this, but attaching moral value to the essential/nonessential distinction is dumb class-populist claptrap.
Food delivery drives are categorized as essential and waitstaff not. The former aren't better than the latter.
@AlexGodofsky
Someone on here pointed out that increased sensitivity towards them have essentially resulted in their erasure from the national consciousness.
I believe the sensitivity is a very good impulse! But I've been thinking about that ever since.
Half of Crank's tweets are like "Eating glue is bad but chicken when raw can give you ecoli I'm not saying eating glue is good but it won't give you ecoli."
Of course, the worst degrees aren't the abstract humanities. It's the Fake Vocational. Majors that promise career paths the jobs that don't exist it don't need the degree.

Yeah, I think college is good, and we probably have roughly the right ~ of people going, but some of the degrees are a bit grifty...
Literally no one on this planet that uses twitter on a daily basis can rationally believe it’s not worth $1/month to them. This person does not exist, except in the middle of the bell curve meme.
Without news stories on gas prices who would even notice the price of a short term inelastic commodity purchased regularly that adds up to three figures nobthly?
There was a lot going on about weight at the time. Like being a normal weight now is a bigger premium, but that's an out-of-Hollywood thing. In Hollywood, normal weight was more often considered fat. That was not actually good (still not great, but improved).
Setting aside questions of freedom and religion and all of that. Parking lot church services are an example of people trying to make this all work. If you want shelter-in-place to work, you have to meet such people half way. Especially when they're meeting the basic requirements.
Elizabeth Warren is too rich, AOC is (apocryphally) too poor. What is the goldilox amount of wealth a woman (or man) can have to have the standing to be an opponent of inequality?
One thing that I don't have in common with Hillary Clinton, Matt Yglesias, and Jon Chait is that I never tried to increase Trump's viability as a candidate at any point in the 2016 cycle.
