Those that currently benefit from the status quo don’t even need to make any effort to sustain it. Those that suffer the most will fight the hardest to justify and sustain the status quo. They will employ religion, ethnicity, gender, age…anything at all, to extend their misery.

Crazy how peaceful life becomes when you learn to pause before reacting because you know not everything needs a reaction and a lot of what you want to say doesn't need to be said.

Anyway, this tread is all about ‘generation’ (GenCos), but by the time you think about the next step, i.e, ‘transmission’ you’ve lost another 1,000 - 2000 MW and then the final step - ‘distribution’ (DisCos), will also lose its own 2000 MW! It’s a mess!

To put it into context we generate ~7,000 - 8,000 MW, even though the country’s installed capacity from various sources is ~ 18,000 MW… way too inefficient, and the reality is that the country needs 35,000 - 40,000 MW!

Conclusively he’s a player in the sector, & yes, we all want to see investors increase their interests. Goes without saying that Nigeria needs a lot of this high efficient gas power plant & needs to produce & transport the gas to the plants (instead of the excessive flaring).

Now the 435MW plant which uses gas turbines to generate electricity is one of the best performing plants in Nigeria having undergone major upgrades ($100 million) by Siemens in 2016/2017.

You can contend with how folks like FO gets the dibs at buying such assets from the government, but by the 2019 takeover, he was quoted to have invested $1 billion.

FO has been investing in the plant since around 2012 & he took his investment to 80% in 2019, with the FG retaining the remaining 20%. He achieved this after selling off his majority stake in Forte oil, clearly demonstrating his interest to help develop the Nigeria power sector.

Hey @abbietayo, do you mean increase his investment in the power sector, because @realfemiotedola is already heavily invested in the sector, as he’s the majority shareholder in the Geregu Power Plant.

If you struggle with impatience like me, the following may be helpful when speaking to others: 1. Don't say the first thing that comes to mind. Refine it until it is kind. 2. Genuinely listen. Take an active interest even if you're not interested at first or have heard it before
