We need to keep talking about food waste! Just like we needed to keep talking about climate change. We are sending 1.3 billion tonnes of food to landfills (more each year) while hundreds of million of people live not knowing when their next meal will be.

4. Produce, protect, reduce, restore. Countries can work to sustainably increase their agri productivity via investment, R&D, & policy reform. There's an urgent need to invest in restoring degraded land to support rural economies, climate change, ecosystem & prevent future crises

3. Broker a new deal with the world’s farmers. The world spends $600B each year on agricultural subsidies but only 5% supports conservation or sustainability. Much of this money could be redeployed to deliver better outcomes for farmers, consumers, the climate & the environment.

Investment in local food supply chains is important keep agricultural markets open sustainable & fair. Govs will need to reform subsidy and regulatory regimes to encourage greater consumption of healthier foods to address high rates of obesity and other diet-related diseases

2. Ensure all people can access and afford nutritious healthy food. Food prices have risen & 3B people in the world today cannot afford the food they need to ensure their well-being. Malnutrition is a scourge in almost all nations of the world – including the US, India & Brazil

1. Increase political commitment and finance to fight hunger. The first priority is to address global hunger, exacerbated by the pandemic. The number of chronically hungry people in the world increased by an estimated 130 million in the past year, to more than 800 million.
