Found another large surviving ash tree leaded with seed! Right next to the mother tree I found a male lingering ash (not shown). Also not shown are all of the ash trees that have been dead for 6 to 10 years! If you see any, please report to @GLBFHC.

Seems like forestry and related sciences people have been less active on this platform. Just wondering what platforms people in this community may be switching to?

Training interns to dissect EAB from trees being tested for resistance! Julia Wolf and @aletta_doran (photo credit) explaining procedures and then they will get to practice on infested seedlings. Next week they will start on the experimental trees!

Last of 5 weeks putting EAB eggs onto test trees. Grateful for all of our interns and dedicated lab techs (including those not shown) for all their hard work in the heat. Dissections start next week - stay tuned to see how many EAB resistant trees we find!

I am excited to share some of my grad work on Emerald Ash Borer induced host defense response to larval infestation, now published! https://t.co/4mLhwT5WKK #EAB #metabolomics This would not have been possible without @treebreederKoch @TPolandFS @aletta_doran and many others

Larvae of the invasive emerald ash borer (EAB, Agrilus planipennis) kill over 99% of green ash (Fraxinus pennsylvanica) trees they infest, yet a small percen...

Hot mess in #oaks #genomics ! Dr.Meg Staton from @epp_tn @UTAgResearch showed at #SFTIC2023 how fascinating and complex the #tree #genomes can be.

Had a visitor in our nursery today. Guess we need to expand our definition of "nursery." Photo by intern Liz, who was able to safely guide the very scared little fawn out without damage to fence, trees or the baby 🦌

Lingering white ash x lingering white ash controlled cross pollinations coming along well! Left May 12, right May 30. Still a long way to go before we have seedling family for screening and genetic studies 🀞

Thankful our interns are on board to help with up-potting! Keeping trees as happy as possible before bioassay time is crucial for getting consistent data! #EAB #treeresistance

Glad to have these lingering ash grafts & progeny back safely from winter storage. It's going to be a busy summer - this photo only shows about half of them!

Cross-pollination between two lingering ash parents is looking promising - can see the beginning of seed development. Hoping they make it all the way 🀞

New grafted lingering ash selections already flowering! Grafting allows us to use containerized "seed orchards" to do controlled cross pollinations safely and quickly. #EABresistance

Ah spring- when breeders scramble to make controlled cross pollinations during a narrow time window! Shown here @Aletter_ForYou and @uofcincy intern Brynn McGrail cross-pollinating lingering ash trees to increase EAB resistance in the next generation of ash!

Great post-doc position at MSU: collaborate with FS researchers, examine interactions of multiple factors including EAB and parasitoid population density/establishment, ash species composition, spatial variation, tree health, etc in sites with lingering ash.

We are conducting outreach for a Tree Improvement Specialist to design insect and disease resistance phenotyping and breeding studies of threatened forest tree species, with an emphasis on genetics and genomics in Delaware, OH. Outreach deadline is 2/14. https://t.co/oeccMmYvpl

The Forest Health committee of the Great Lakes Forest Fire Compact spent the morning at our @usfs_nrs lab learning about our tree breeding programs! We breed trees with resistance or tolerance to invasive pests and pathogens.
