Trauma and attachment awareness is essential. But it’s not the destination. It’s the doorway.

Nothing to do with education. When did queuing at a bar become a thing. Felt compelled to write about it

Just thinking about the polarity of Direct Instruction debates. You can’t enquire about nothing. Plus, you can’t memorise your way to wonder.

When early‑years & SEN support fails, kids lose out. Time for urgent investment in mental‑health services & behavioural support.

Direct instruction isn’t the only game in town. If all you do is tell, explain, model, and practice, don’t be surprised when curiosity packs up and leaves. There are other ways to learn.

Why is it that people who have never worked in Primary school or early years seem intent on insisting that direct instruction is better than anything else? Just curious!.

A huge thank you to all teachers and school support staff. You have given so much this year, often while running on empty. What you do matters every single day. I hope the summer brings the rest and recognition you truly deserve. #ThankYouTeachers #Education.

Tutor time is not for extra maths. It’s for connection, checking in, and reminding kids they matter before the day starts. Structure is important, but so is belonging. We've lost something. Stop filling every gap with subjects.

Why do so many behaviour policies look great on paper but fail in the classroom?.Because they forget one thing, the human behind the behaviour. I help schools build trauma informed, relational systems that actually work. Ready to stop firefighting and start leading? Let’s talk.

This resource bank from @XpatEducator is absolutely fabulous. So much useful stuff packed into such a small space. Have a look.

The science of learning is real. But so are trauma, fear, hunger, belonging, and joy. If your model ignores the child’s story, it’s not science — it’s just control dressed up as research.
