In 1902 a basic white glass dinner set of 35 pieces cost $1.98 in the United States, $65+/- inflation adjusted 2025 — roughly a week's wages for an unskilled worker then. Today, at $0.90 AUD/ $0.60 USD, U.S. worker earning $7.25/h would need to work 5 minutes to buy each piece.

Capitalism erodes racism, protects the environment, fuels growth and improves material living standards — yet, “It has become widely accepted that capitalism has failed” — That argument is nonsense, and “Matthew Lau isn’t having it.”
