@AirCanada I can only shake my head. My bag was left behind last night. It showed up in Regina hours ago (it had an AirTag…). No one phoned. Apparently the courier didn’t show up. Still no one phoned. So I went to the airport to get it myself and find that the handle’s broken.

Lol and a further discovery… I love this battery charger usually but apparently this blink code means “charger ambient temperature too cold”. WHY?!? YOU NEED IT THE MOST WHEN ITS TOO COLD.

Some cognitive dissonance I’m chewing on this morning: to the people who are in the “medical decisions are between a patient and their doctor, keep politics out of it” camp right now, does it apply the same way to you with both vaccinations and hormones/hormone blockers?.

Also if you’re ever down here, The Filling Station on the south end of Ames is a true gem. Recommend trying the biscuits and gravy at least once.

Well, I don’t normally post much about just random life stuff but I’ve been down in Ames IA for a week now with work and I gotta say, this is a fun town. Met some wonderful people and the hospitality has been awesome. Even went to a college football game!

And it makes every statement like “wind and solar are getting more investment than any other energy source” highly suspect, because it probably just means capitalists have found the most loopholes to exploit with renewable energy sources. Weeeee 🙃.

And @kaitlynharveysk still chewing on the BECCS option. One of the questions I’m still trying to find an answer to with that: it uses agricultural waste to capture and bury carbon. Is there any way to save the N, P, K, etc first before burying it?.

And if nothing else it helps understand other perspectives and provide a different lens to look at the problem through.

*MB and elsewhere. Where that starts to make me a bit uncomfortable though is from an energy security POV. Ice storms in ON and MB potentially causing outages in SK, or say an avalanche or rock slide in BC. But overall it’s an interesting assumption to add to the things to ponder.

I’ve got to dig and put numbers together still, but the two reports talked about massive wind buildout that we can export when it’s blowing hard, and importing hydro from MB to make up the shortfall when it’s calm. It makes sense and completely sidesteps the storage problem!.

It’s a concern that often comes up, and yeah, high-level waste is a problem to deal with for sure but… is it a problem that we’ve just kind of never had any real incidents with?.

.@brahmneufeld and anyone else… it’s been relatively easy to find lists of nuclear power incidents (Chernobyl, Three Mile Island, Fukushima, etc) and their impacts but I’m having a hard time finding any significant nuclear waste incidents. Do you know of any?.

@AaronGenest @kaitlynharveysk and anyone else… I would be delighted to have anyone rip my thought process to shreds here. If there’s a route for me to get to zero carbon (tax and emission) that doesn’t involve personally spending $250k out of pocket to get close, I’m all ears 😁.
