The news of AI acts topping billboard charts - and now BMI and ASCAP allowing AI songs to be registered - is very disheartening for every music maker. But at least it’s out in the open now. I can’t wait for the next EUROVISION - it’s gonna be a BANGER!

As addendum - I’ll be intrigued what legal lines are drawn when the first porn clips are made with her image ChatGPT. I bet the label has thought about, prepared and monetised it already. Labels were always in that business anyway. We were just haggling over our price!😊

But my default position is to be ready to fight for survival. I’ve had 25 years of that. And I’ve had my share of luck. But more than that - I had an army at my side. All of you. ❤️

I’ll watch how it plays out & keep finding ways to build human community. I think music & live music especially will remain vital. We need it. But Xania will sell out The Sphere within 2 years. Or something like it. And it will be incredible. And very sad somehow. Strange times.

One thing it means for sure is the absolute end of human music as a career for all but a tiny few new acts. It is already. It was already mostly killed by streaming - but now a billion song prompts a day - a billion tracks uploaded to streaming sites a day. It’s over.

Not entirely sure how I feel about this. It was inevitable. And is for sure the future. Some AI stuff will be incredible. Already is. It means a line is drawn now. What matters most to each of us? Maybe it becomes a guilty pleasure (spelled guiltAI) or we enjoy both.
