We are very saddened to report that Richard McSpadden, AOPA Senior Vice President, died in an aircraft accident outside Lake Placid, New York, on Sunday afternoon. Our thoughts are with Richard’s family at this time. We will provide more details as they are available.

Biden nominated former FAA Dep Admin Michael Whitaker to be chief. I flew with him in my Bonanza to demonstrate ADS-B in 2016 when he was a student pilot. He later earned his pilot cert; bought a Mooney. He's a good leader--and an actual pilot!

A Texas court concluded that online allegations made by Dan Gryder against a Texas pilot and airport owner were false and imposed a $1 million judgement against him August 16. Charles Cook sued Gryder in 2021 alleging a campaign of harassment and slander.
