Here is my podcast on Tour de France Stage 12:. I cover Tadej’s win, Jonas’ struggle, Visma’s strategy, what a possible winning strategy could be for Jonas, and who’s in contention for GC behind the big two. Spotify: YouTube:

This is a false narrative that is going around. No Jonas’ level at this year’s Tour de France is not below his previous years. Literally every interview he clearly states he is better than ever. He literally followed Tadej in two huge attacks and finished 2nd and 3rd in the.

@tomdanielson Jonas level this year is a lot worse, even compared with last year. His climbing level at Dauphiné had been quite underwhelming too. Seeing the results today, shows that Almeida was probably the 2nd best climber in the race.

The Tour de France is too big of a race for teams to not take every advantage to have some sort of role in it.

The big question I have is did Jonas ask to change the strategy today or at any point in the last 12 days? If so how was that request received. Surely there had to be a difference of opinion based on what they saw out on the road and felt vs what the original needed elements they.

I think the most logical explanation is that he is actually that good. This is the most powerful argument for not taking short cuts and doing things the right way. You actually become what you see and you don’t rely on any sort of bullshit to perform or win.

The big, bad surprise of the day (at least for me) was the underperformance of Visma. Jorgenson lost 10 minutes and any chance for the podium while Jonas was actually at a lower level than last year. Too bad but cyclists are not machines. Hope they can bounce back. #TDF2025

He is the best rider in the world. He performs this way year round. Clearly one way he does this is how he manages things when they go wrong, like the crash. That is the opposite of disturbing.

@tomdanielson In my opinion, he didn’t perform just “well”. Even after a serious crash he just crushes every other rider in the world. I find that disturbing.

8. Behind the big two the future of grand tours took shape with Lipowitz, Johannessen, Onley, and Vauquelin all putting in gutsy rides to showcase their top five / top ten potential. Pretty exciting group in this Tour who surely will be doing big things in the years to come no.

7. Remco, wow! Dropped on the first climb and fought all day to get back in contention and end up holding his podium position on the final climb. Tonight he needs to go and get all the posts on social media that write him off mid race and post them on his handlebars for the rest.

6. More in the Jonas/Visma situation. The thing is that second in the Tour is a massive result and he truly is, the second best rider in the race. This is a huge accomplishment and I think moving forward Visma can shift their focus to helping Jonas ride his best and be his best.

5. In my opinion Jonas’ performance today was below his normal level ( as with Matteo) and I think that’s was due to depletion. His respiration rate was short, his heels were dropping on the downstroke, and he was trying to pound fluids where he could. Also he bled time in the.

4. Visma continued with their “scorch the Earth” strategy for the 12th day and while they destroyed the peloton they also destroyed themselves. Sad to watch Matteo caught in the flames and watch his podium hopes disappear in smoke. He literally blew and was dropped while his team.

3. I just want to address Tadej racing the aero bike. First off starting on it the day after the crash just oozes confidence. It’s a heavier bike to begin with and he has not yet won a mountain stage on it. Second, by him racing this bike in the absolutely most critical moment.

2. Tadej’s core strength has been on another level the last two years and is one of the places he has created his advantage over his rivals. That same core strength is also likely helped him perform so well after hitting the ground so hard. Normally when you land on your hip and.

My Thoughts on the Tour de France Stage 12:. 1. Incredible performance from Tadej Pogacar who did not let yesterday’s crash get in the way of his plans to put on a dominant performance, to put 2:10 plus the 4 second bonus on Jonas. He went all the way to the line before saluting.

It simply confirms that he, along with Matteo, struggled today and performed below their level. Jonas and Matteo appeared depleted today compared to their rivals. A solid explanation for this would be them riding aggressively for 12 stages in a row. The worrying part, or the.

Yes the crash will affect him tomorrow. He will have to use a lot of mental strength to try and perform near the level he wants to. Likely he was planning on attacking tomorrow so the question will be does he still try or does he go defense.

@tomdanielson Question your a former rider; A crash like this how much do you think this will effect him tomorrow and the next 3 mountain stages? Like it cant be good? Has to impact negatively, but how much? I know impossible to know but from experience what you think, ballpark me.

To answer the question or argument of “they wouldn’t have waited if it was another rider” it is that the strongest people of the peloton (Visma) who had spent the last 10 days trying to destroy Pogacar decided that they do not want to beat him by a crash like this one. They chose.

The rivals of the defending TDF champion and current World Champion waiting for him after a crash is a statement. If you review the current internet and the media you will clearly see that this statement has been received by many. Mission accomplished.

@tomdanielson That’s a stretch. Riders were collectively sparing themselves falling in disgrace with the most prominent rider in the world. Had the crash involved any other rider, say Enric Mas, and nobody would’ve cared about "safety" or "fair play".
