So I’ve been through a more complex process, that’s arguably not added any value for me OR the garage, because sometimes you just need a person who knows what they are doing to look at car, AND it’s delayed the actual thing that I need to move things forward.

I now have a car appointment for next Friday. I’ve just got an email with the *exact* same form I filled in earlier.

I call the number. Lovely lady. Books me in (few days later than was earliest diagnostic appt that was available at first contact). I give her all my car details again. Even though surely they’ve got that info from the previous form?.

Engineer calls right on time. Agrees he needs to see the car. Tells me to call back a different number to book the service. He’s not seen my form.

I get told I can’t be seen until the end of next week, but I can have a triage call with the engineer tomorrow. Ok. I get sent a 9 page electronic form to fill out. I go into detail. Hopefully it’ll help….

Bit annoying but ok. We rearrange some stuff. We opt not to use the car until we know what’s wrong, I call up on Monday morning when the garage opens.

Now I know nothing about cars. But I think that I need the car looking at by a professional. Unfortunately it’s the weekend. So I have to wait till Monday.

I do what I need to do and drive home. By the time I get home the light has gone from flashing to being on all the time. The car shudders when I slow down and speed up a bit, but it’s not all the time.

I got to my destination and looked at the manual. It said this light meant a “possible malfunction”. Thanks for that.

A story 🧵. So I was driving to a nearby city when my automatic electric hybrid car (don’t @ me) started making juddering noises when I accelerated past the point when the car needs to change gear. A yellow blinky light came on.

“This patient can’t come to our unit as they don’t fit the criteria”. “Ok. I kind of think they do, but ok, Can you tell me what the criteria are?” . “No”. “Ok. Are they written down anywhere?”. “No” . “Have you seen the patient?”. “No”.
