I've moved most of my day-to-day business to that beautiful place where the sky is blue. The network effect is real and almost all the electronics regulars that used to gather around here can now be found there.

Brightness and Contrast Adjustment of Tektronix TDS 500/600/700 Oscilloscopes T. his is really simple, but I was *this close* to buying an LCD panel upgrade kit, so maybe it will help someone else one day.

Hhigh quality grabbers/probes can make your life more pleasant. And they're cheap too! Tektronix grabbers are my favorite: they have a narrow stem which allows probing of multiple signals that are close to each other and they have a sharp hook for better attachment.

"Making Screenshots of Test Equipment Old and New" - A blog post written for an audience of one, so that I don't need to figure over and over again which settings to use to make screenshots of measurements. Maybe one day it will be useful for someone?

It’s a long shot, but I picked up this Rohde & Schwarz AMIQ 04 I/Q Modulation Generator from an auction. The hard drive is a clicking mess. Dead… Does anyone happen to have a working one and can I get an image of your HD?

Projects like this are so niche that I wouldn’t expect anyone to recreate them, but it really made my day when somebody let me know that they did and that it worked!.

There’s still a few bugs but Cubed PacMan has a playing field on top now.

PacMan wilting gracefully. With that, the basics are complete! I’m starting to reach the limits of the current cube version: the controller board has no input capabilities at all. I’m already thinking about next years version, with even smaller panels, audio and inputs.

Major progress: PacMan and the ghosts follow the grid, dots get eaten and replenished, big dots spook the ghosts for a while. But PacMan and the ghosts are still invincible. That’s next. But where can I find the correct bitmaps of the dying sequence?

But if you need an old airplane body, ejection seat or electron microscope, they have that too.

In LA for @hackaday superconference, early morning visit to APEX Electronics. I don’t know how they make money (movie prop rental?) but it’s an awesome place to just walk around. Test equipment, radios, computers and tape drives, everything old or very old.
