I look forward to working with the team at WotC to help carry the torch that Sheldon lit 20 years ago, and will continue to be a tireless advocate for social play. (4/4).

My deepest thanks to everyone - my fellow RC members, the CAG, the folks on Discord and all the players who've found resonance in what we've tried to do over the years - for coming along with us on this crazy journey. (3/4).

I agree that we made mistakes, both before and after the announcement. In a lot of ways, we were trying to figure out how to operate in a post-Sheldon world. But I remain convinced that the bans will be a good thing for Commander and what we've been trying to accomplish. (2/4).

This isn't what I wanted to happen for Commander, but it's what's necessary at this point. When you can't make difficult decisions without worrying about your safety and well-being, you can't run a format, especially one with a nontraditional point of view. (1/4).

And it would be too easy to accidentally end up there. I don't think it's healthy to have a policy that tries to navigate fine distinctions here, especially in the minefield that is IDW. 3/3.

Consider how quickly it goes downhill. What if they were able to take some actions, look at the card and decide not to concede? That's really problematic all around at that point, and not a situation we want folks to find themselves in. 2/3 (oops).

I'm not going to comment on the exact facts of the IDW case over the weekend. I wasn't there. If the player couldn't take any action and was just shortcutting to the next draw, then I might treat is as such, even if a strict reading of IDW could also be supported. But. 1/2.

Wizards is being surprisingly quiet about this, but depending on how you consider Aftermath, either MKM or OTJ is the 100th standard-legal expansion set. That seemed to demand a Commander Commander deck and I threw together . It's very silly.

Very happy with how this turned out.

Our quarterly update is live. No changes to rules or banned list. We've released an important update of the philosophy page, clarifying the RC's vision for the format. No change of direction, but a better explanation of what we're trying to accomplish.

New MTR and IPG posted! Nothing too radical; mostly wording tweaks to be clearer and a bit of new policy around open decklists. Summary and explanation of the changes at

And to make it clear - I just submitted another order (with like 242 cards in it) to SCG, so I don't bear them any ill will. They're a bunch of awesome folks who - like the rest of us - need to watch out for the edge cases. Better guardrails would have made the experience fine.

Happy news: 249 checkboxes manually selected later, the order went through. So the fixes for all this pain are pretty easy, but there's a lot of cleanup to do.

(Oh, and 7/6 I really hope submitting 249 will work and that doesn't turn out to be another papercut along the way.).

I use this to highlight that lots of little errors in a large overall UX flow can lead to substantial aggravation, and it's important to audit systems end to end for the corner cases. Always test your failure cases! 6/6.

However, there's no option to select all the cards and then unselect one. I need to now go and manually click on 249 of them individually to create the new order. Which I guess I will do when I have an hour to spare. 5/x.

The nice lady at customer service (whose hours do not match those on the billing page) informs me that the actual limit is 249 cards and things go wrong at 250. Since the order is still available (just cancelled), I can resubmit with one fewer card. 4/x.

I submit again in case it was erroneous. Same error. Shortly after, I get an email saying my order was cancelled. My cart is now empty. 3/x.

I get 'For a successful transaction, please select Bank Wire Transfer and add the comment, "please invoice me".' There is no option to select Bank Wire Transfer. 2/x.
