Ah yes, New York. A city that famously never had a substantial immigrant population.
40 percent of New York City's population is foreign born. Not just second and third generation immigrants. Foreign born. Almost half the city wasn't born in this country. NYC isn't an American city anymore by any reasonable definition of the term. It's a tragedy and a disgrace.

I've got 20+ years of experience in my field, working for companies that are fairly well known in the industry/area. I've applied to around 100 jobs in the last 3 years and got ONE phone call.

This is extremely true. I saw this exact thing occur two weeks ago.
I have great news for everyone complaining that hc is getting too popular- there is a band in your area playing floorpunch covers in a DIY venue to 30 people, you just have to go to that show instead of the ones you think are too expensive.
