I don't know why I am shooting thoughts into the black hole tonight. Not really like me. Maybe it's useful for somebody. G'nite.

Although, certainly it holds true for many individuals who do manage to hold on to power. When faced with substantive decisions, they will do whatever maintains whatever power they think they have. (It was easy to write those weekly essays.). I think it's largely a human thing.

This theme explains white people.Heteros .Christian Nationalists.Billionaires .Men.Politicians whose ethics change for convenience. Really, everything. Through this lens it is hard to trust or to hope. I am speaking about demographic trends, not necessarily individuals.

They also taught the lost cause though (it was in the textbook) so the content of the class was a mixed bag—but I still think the class's theme (people w/ power doing anything to stay in power) was a useful lens and still process things through that lens 20 years later.
