I'm thrilled to announce the book I worked on with @sandimetz, @kytrinyx, and @tomstuart has been released. I'm thankful to work with such smart and lovely people. I'm proud of what we made. #99BottlesofOOP.

I spent an hour riffing on my software engineering principles and beliefs. 1196 words came out of me like water breaching a dam. Obviously I have things to say and should find a place to say them out loud.

I live across the street from a park and probably five times people have knocked on my door to ask me to use my bathroom. Who does that!?.

Also it’s named reasonably and does what it says it does. That’s more important than the implementation details the vast majority of the time.

Everyone’s dunking on this Dutch gov’t code, but it’s pretty readable IMHO. Sure, there are clever ways to make it shorter, but why?.

Wasn’t kidding. I’ve had a lot of positive interactions here but I can’t abide the platforming of misinformation.✌️.

Confession: I'm a long time Vimmer and I find myself liking VS Code more than Vim/Neovim and Emacs lately. I'm not saying one or the other is better. I'm even thinking about writing VS Code plugins (extensions whatever).

It will have snippets and other features in due time. I think it will supplant Vim/Neovim for a lot of devs.

helix-editor is so promising. I wish it had a few features like snippets, but I'm tempted to try it as a daily driver anyway.

After working with Elixir for a couple years, I've come to fully appreciate the role of immutable data structures in functional composition. I think this feature of Ruby will allow a similar programming style. ❤️

#myelixirstatus I just added configurable rate limiting (back pressure) on a per-endpoint basis to an app in less than an hour. Elixir FTW🙌. If such a thing is possible/available in other language ecosystems, I'm not aware of it.
