#FurnitureSafetyWeek tip: Tip-overs can happen anywhere, including childcare, churches, hotels, and vacation homes. Ensure furniture with drawers, doors, and/or shelves, and TVs are secured to the wall everywhere your children spend time. #AnchorIt and keep them safe!

#FurnitureSafetyWeek tip: Even flat screen TVs can tip & cause serious injury or kill a young child. Every 10 pounds of weight is equivalent to dropping a bowling ball on the child. Wall-mount TVs if possible, or #AnchorIt to the wall/furniture it sits on (and the furniture too)

#FurnitureSafetyWeek tip: Before accepting a hand-me-down or purchasing a second-hand item, consider expiration dates, research recalls, beware of potential hazards like lead paint or missing parts that could compromise safety, and always #AnchorIt!

Today's #FurnitureSafetyWeek tip is about ensuring that children and pets are in clear view and not under the recliner before closing it, to prevent crush/pinch injuries, entrapment, and suffocation. Never allow your children to play with the recline features. Relax AND be safe!

Did you know that bunk beds pose several safety hazards? Entrapment and falls can cause serious injury. Today's #FurnitureSafetyWeek tip: Never allow horseplay on bunk beds, and children under 6 should never sleep or play in the top bunk (including vacation rentals!).

Glass coffee and accent tables pose a safety hazard in plain sight. Tables and other furniture with glass (like cabinets with glass doors) should be made with tempered glass. Never allow horseplay around furniture with glass. #FurnitureSafetyWeek

This is the 18th dresser recall for violation of the STURDY Act, and the 6th dresser with fabric drawers to be recalled. This tells us that it's not just heavy dressers that tip and this is why ALL furniture with drawers, doors, and shelves needs to be anchored to the wall!
#RECALL: EnHomee 13 Drawer Dressers. Dressers are unstable if they are not anchored to the wall, posing serious tip-over and entrapment hazards that can result in injuries or death to children. Get Refund. Full notice: https://t.co/BvpdcH1PXe

IMPORTANT RECALL: plastic furniture anchor kits recalled. 115 incidents of the components breaking and 6 tip-overs happened as a result of the anchor failing to work as intended. PAT recommends using metal anchor kits to anchor all furniture with drawers, doors, and shelves.
#WARNING: CPSC is warning consumers to immediately stop using defective plastic tip restraint kits (also referred to as furniture straps) manufactured by Cranach Hardware because the plastic can break or degrade over time. Full notice: https://t.co/m98TaZYSYt

Even though the mandatory stability standard for dressers and clothing storage furniture has been in effect for 2 years, dressers may be still for sale that don't meet the standard. Since it only applies to dressers made after 9/1/23, you still need to #Anchorit!

On the 2nd anniversary of the effective date of the federal mandatory safety and stability standard for dressers and other clothing storage furniture (STURDY Act), we honor these amazing people who made it happen (and the CPSC, not pictured). Proof that collaboration works!

Do you know what the @USCPSC does? They keep unsafe and dangerous products off the market and out of your home through research, data collection/injury and fatality reports, recalls, and collaboration with industry and consumers. The work the CPSC does saves lives!
You may not know all the ways the @USCPSC is keeping your family safe, but safety advocates say you’ll miss it if it’s gone.
