I got to spend the last 3 days with new elementary educators at @MasonSchools, sharing about how to build Comet Community and Culture. Check out these co-created guidelines, which captures the learning space that they maintained with and for each other. The future is bright! š¤©š

āWe canāt expect our first day to feel like our last day. We canāt compare our first day in anything to the middle or end of something else⦠In order to be good at anything, we have to first be willing to be a beginner.ā

To say I love these guys is such an understatementā¦and not because they won today. They committed to a process and loved each other every step of the way. We stood on the shoulders of so many that came before and I will love them til the day I dieā¦#45040

Weāre all rooting for you, @MasonHSBaseball!
Winning Means Zip "I think it means more when your guys are developed in your hometown." The @MasonHSBaseball team is two wins from its first state title, and they're doing it for the number they've branded. @JakeHanley34 @MasonHSComets @AnthonySulek @MichaelBilo99

Kindergarten students got to try out the cafeteria today! They learned how to go through the line, choose their food, and that they will learn their student ID number to check out. Members of our Child Nutrition team were so helpful and kind! š #MasonMoment #CometCulture

The culture work we did with TK is still some of my most favorite and impactful. He was an incredibly smart, passionate, and relatable person. He will be missed by so many. #CometCulture
After a long battle with cancer, Tim Kight passed away last night in the peace of his home surrounded by family. ā He impacted countless lives in business, athletics, and education. He devoted his life to helping people lead with purpose and live with intention.

Great collaboration this morning among K and 1 teachers about the Heggerty action research pilot, where teachers looked at data, shared helpful tips, and talked about potential next steps.

Absolutely. Behavior is communication.
āFor children to learn the habits and skills of positive behavior, we need to teach discipline explicitly, just as we teach math, science, and other academic subjects. And we must do so in ways that address the cause of childrenās behavior struggles.ā

Teachers are taking this three day week back from winter break to do a Comet Reboot: intentional reteaching and practicing of routines, procedures, and expectations. Things like bus safety, how to be a kind friend, and reviewing cafeteria procedures are just a few things covered.

Feel like students are super chatty as you return from break? Consider giving them the social time needed to catch up with peers. Wanting to connect with each other, especially after two weeks away, is a positive thing!
Provide students time for socializing with classmates when they return to the classroom after winter break. Try this activity! https://t.co/awThfwf4MA

Second graders shared their published non-fiction writing with kindergarteners today. What a great moment for K students to see where they can go, and for second graders to have an authentic audience to share their writing. #MasonMoment
