@shreyas
In the past year, a lot of our product teams
@Dropbox
have begun to use pre-mortems routinely. We have found them to be effective in driving deeper team alignment & shared consciousness. Here is the template & guide we use internally:
Congrats to the full
@Dropbox
team for a standout quarter surpassing all expectations, and incredible momentum across the business. Thought I would share some highlights of our Q2 👇
🚀Excited to step into the role of CEO at
@heyjasperai
! Deeply humbled by the trust & kind words from
@DaveRogenmoser
.
Building tools and platforms that reshape work has always been my north star, and from my tenure at
@Dropbox
, I realized how content sits at the heart of…
Big news from the
@heyjasperai
camp today. I’ve hired
@timyoung
on as the new CEO of Jasper and I couldn’t be more excited.
Over the last year, we have shifted our focus from a writing assistant to becoming a true AI copilot for marketing teams. Specifically, we’ve become a…
Super humbled and honored to have the opportunity to further partner with
@drewhouston
in serving our employees and customers at Dropbox as President. Thank you to our entire team. There is so much opportunity in front of us.
And finally, everyone's Dropbox has a story to tell. This week we introduced a new brand campaign to remind the world that for all things worth saving and sharing, there’s Dropbox. We’re incredibly proud of this effort, and hope you love it too.
Excited to announce that Dropbox has acquired DocSend! Thrilled to bring together
@Dropbox
,
@hellosign
, &
@DocSend
to give our customers a full suite of self-serve products to manage their content workflows.
@rheddleston
& team welcome to the DBX family!
Feeling lost, depressed, frustrated, or overwhelmed as a founder or CEO? My best advice is to drop everything, pick up the phone and speak with a supportive customer. The conversation will focus you on what ultimately matters and instantly reinvigorate your spirit.
The most memorable days are the ones that suck the most. Not because of how much they suck but rather because they mark the starting line where you make a pivotal change. Growth is born of failure and suck. Success is born from that growth.
Value follows developers. Crypto is no different than the past tech growth trends. As my old mentor
@Paul_Maritz
at
@VMware
once told me, "Developers are the best canary for where we should be focusing our investments."
We were also proud to share this week that all of our data center storage server power is now covered by 100% renewable electricity—well ahead of our 2030 goal.
Proud to share Dropbox's strong Q1. In addition to being a profitable quarter that beat estimates, we also welcomed
@DocSend
to the Dropbox family, saw continued momentum with
@hellosign
, & expanded access to premium features like Dropbox Passwords. Much more to come - Go team!
As we continue to focus on network effects, we saw a 15%+ increase in link sharing thanks to redesigning our web & mobile sharing experiences - including increased visibility for the “share link” button and faster upload speeds.
As we focus on bringing more workflows to our users, we’re off to a great start with DocSend. DocSend exceeded our internal goals and milestones in Q2, and we made great progress integrating the product into the broader portfolio.
With eSignature requests up 75% YoY
@HelloSign
continues to see strength. We introduced support for Qualified Electronic Signatures, the most trusted & secure form of eSignature that also meets European Union eIDAS compliance.
@hunterwalk
Agreed. Your best people always leave first. Typically, talent exits at board level are summed up simply as “regrettable vs non-regrettable attrition”. Level of impact, exit rate, or network potential of additional exits are not tracked or discussed in detail consistently.
I spend a lot of time on BTCtalk Altcoin Announcements [ANN] searching for the next great opportunity.
Here is my guide for easily avoiding pure shitcoins (aka shit I wouldn't touch with a 10ft pole).
The Dropbox Professional SKU — a favorite among freelancers and the creatives — is still growing at more than 30% YoY. Dropbox is uniquely suited to help these users, and we’re continuing to invest in new ways to support them.
@mitchellh
We feel you and agree. We haven’t forgotten our roots and that magical experience. It’s coming back very soon. Simple, pure, smooth, fast, reliable and there only when you need it.
Your first job matters. Most people don't take their first job decision seriously enough. First jobs are imprinted on us strongly - both the what and how. They have an enduring effect on how we think about ourselves, our priorities, decisions and opportunities.
We also recently announced the rollout of Camera Uploads to all 700M+ Basic users. Now they can automatically backup photos and videos from their mobile devices to their Dropbox account.
@buccocapital
High growth covered up the quiet secret in tech that is the ineffectiveness of snr leaders to develop & manage middle managers. One day you are an IC, next day a manager. Prioritization & tradeoffs haven't existed in that layer. You need to do something new? Just ask for more HC.
@andrewchen
Years ago (2009) this was the exact insight we had when we started . At the time, we were aiming initially to be the link people would insert on their Twitter bios.
We generated cash provided by operating activities of $219.9 million & FCF of $216 million - a record! GAAP operating margin of 15.9% and our highest ever non-GAAP operating margin of 32%, with 13.5% revenue growth. See our GAAP to non-GAAP reconciliation
Humor is the most underrated tool for breaking tension internally in companies. The best managers carefully and deliberately use humor without it turning into aggression or sarcasm.
Architecture is destiny.
The initial structures you build for your company shape your growth and employee behavior.
- Declare a purpose
- Define success
- Establish checkpoints & align motivations
- Layout inclusive cultural rituals & identity
- Ruthlessly construct the GTM
While $BTC struggles, the strongest performing large alts all have some of the most highly regarded developer teams and communities - $ETH, $DCR, $ZRX, $XLM. At the end of the day, value follow developers.

@drewhouston
Thanks for the heads up. I grabbed a subscription earlier today & am reading the post a few times over this evening. Will share w/ my staff tomorrow in our leadership meeting. Many of the themes & dynamics outlined are constantly discussed & strategized around on my team today.
@levie
I saw this first hand. In 2009, I was at Nokia HQ in Espoo sitting in their exec sauna with their C suite team signing the deal for them to become a Socialcast customer. They said “you funny Americans, the iPhone is just a silly toy; what you call a fad”. 😶
4/ Today we are announcing Dropbox Capture, Replay and Shop— Capture is available in beta starting today for all our users. A great way to save time and reduce meetings, something I’m sure we could all use.
@jmj
Amen. I can’t stress this enough to founders. Distribution hook and innovation are equally as important as the product. Not as sexy to founders but vital to successful outcomes.
6/ Replay (simplified video feedback) and Shop (turn your
@Dropbox
content into a business) are coming soon, stay tuned for more on these. Excited for you to try these new experiences and give us feedback as we iterate!
@devahaz
@laurajfagan
Sadly, this happens all too frequently in Cow Hollow these days. I’ve had it happen to my child and I numerous times since Covid began - even out in front of our own house.
5/ Extremely proud of the small teams that are working on these new product experiences as they all started from strong customer insights and were born in our annual Hack Week as projects.
