It’s hard to *overstate* the magnitude and importance of the credit upgrade announced by @GovMurphy yday. It’s an objective, inarguable demonstration of momentum and stewardship. As we hit the back half of year 8, this fiscal record is high on the list of legacy accomplishments.

In the meantime let’s focus on getting as many good manufacturing jobs in NJ as we can with a new tool that is going to do a ton of good to reshore and strengthen American and NJ manufacturing

Given the state of the market and the policy direction from Washington - it’s vanishingly unlikely that a wind component manufacturer (towers or cables etc) will apply for this program anytime soon. This depresses the hell out of me, but you’re entitled to be excited about that.

A portion of the funds are reserved for clean energy (solar, wind, yes nuke and yes wind) *component manufacturers* who create jobs in Jersey instead of overseas. This isn’t about energy generation it’s about component manufacturing and good jobs throughout the state

In order to qualify for support, existing NJ manufacturers or companies who want to come to NJ (from other states or other countries) have to commit to meaningful capital investment and significant new job creation - and if they don’t perform they don’t get a penny

It’s also premised on a bipartisan consensus that more American manufacturing is a good thing - an area of common ground between the Murphy Admin and the federal administration. NJ wants more than our fair share of any surge in American manufacturing jobs

Couple quick thoughts on the Next NJ Manufacturing bill that passed yesterday. It’s the largest dedicated funding ($500m) for manufacturing in Jersey history, period, and it builds on the tremendously successful Manufacturing Voucher Program launched by @GovMurphy in 2022
