1946, No Strings Attached A busking cellist claims his patch of Lower Pembroke Street, bow flying, chin set, as if Carnegie Hall were just beyond the petrol pumps of W.G. Wilcox & Co. The small tin at his feet stands ready for tokens of appreciation. 📷 Willem van de Pol

A beautiful pic of the Queen of Moore Street. There are a few clips of her on @RTEArchives and she was definitely well-loved

Rosie Walsh the uncrowned Queen of Moore Street for over seventy years has decided it is time to abdicate.
1964, Cheers Rosie! Inside a dim Dublin snug, “Rosie” of Moore Street lifts a glass, her day’s trading done. The soft light catches the weathered strength of a life spent calling prices over barrows of fruit and veg. Photographed in 1964 by Magnum photographer Erich Hartmann.

Wonderful. And all slim and healthy
1960s, Pedal Power Sea of cyclists flows homeward after work: men in suits, women in skirts, bags swaying, wheels spin unison. PAA promises the world, Lyons Tea over Double-deckers. Dublin breathing the rhythm of pedals before car was crowned king. Do you cycle, drive or?

1950s, Just a sup! "Ah go on, Da just a sup!” After enough badgering, the pint is surrendered for a ceremonial sip, the creamy head leaving its first white moustache. Guinness wasn’t merely drink; it was tonic, tradition, medicine and occasional pacifier. 📷 Marvin Koner

@timelesscolours No obesity to be seen in that photo! Cycling and dancing at the crossroads likely the secret!

@timelesscolours Took me a while but finally figured out it's taken from O'Connell Bridge and that's Aston Quay with the cyclists heading across the bridge coming from Westmoreland Street.

I often look at photos of Amsterdam wasn't always this, and think but Dublin was, and we got rid of it
