Co-creator of Wrapped In Plastic magazine. Author of books: Ominous Whoosh: A Wandering Mind Returns to Twin Peaks, and The Essential Wrapped In Plastic.
Al Strobel was always a joy to be around. I’ll never forget his delight in telling us his very own vehicle—his Chinook camper—was used in Fire Walk With Me. Farewell Al.
Digging through some old WIP files and came across these photos. I’m sure they’re already floating around on the internet, but I thought I’d post them anyway.

First proof copies of my new
#TwinPeaks
book are back. I’m very happy with how it looks. There’s still a few things to fix, but it’s close to finalized. Should be on sale soon. (Wanted to share my excitement about it!)
Best birthday present ever:
An original painting of the Double R Diner In the style is Edward Hopper.
(My wife asked her nephew—a very talented artist—to paint it.)
Pretty cool, right?
I found it: A printout of Roger Ebert's reaction to
#TwinPeaks
: FWWM. May 1992. Been in my files 31 years (note rusted staple). This came from Ebert's CompuServe column. There's no bibliographic source; you'll have to take my word for it. (Blue highlights also 31 yrs old.)
Yes, that’s David Patrick Kelly (
#TwinPeaks
’ very own Jerry Horne) sitting on the waystar|ROYCO Board of Directors in
#Succession
. (This isn’t the first time he’s been in the show.)
Dale Cooper's very first line in Twin Peaks:
"Diane, 11:30 AM. February 24."
Dale Cooper's last line in Twin Peaks:
"What year is this?"
Circles, echoes and symmetry.
Today marks the 30-year anniversary of Wrapped In Plastic Magazine! (Three decades later, and I'm *still* writing about
#TwinPeaks
.) You can read more about it on my old blog:
Before blu-ray, before dvd, before laserdisc and Worldvision VHS, *this* was my
#TwinPeaks
video library—each episode carefully recorded from broadcast television (WFAA, Dallas, TX, the ABC affiliate). Sadly, it’s time I say goodbye to these decades-old tapes…
Here's the most compelling, sobering essay I've read about
#TwinPeaks
S3. You might not like it (the author, Tim Kreider, admits that even *he* doesn't like its implications), but you should not look away from it. (More on this essay in Blue Rose 8!)
It's finally here: My in-depth look at
#TwinPeaks
The Return. Ominous Whoosh is a trade paperback with 360 pages of analysis, summary, and commentary. Available now to order. (Kindle ebook and hardcover soon to come.)
Perfect economy of storytelling: In 60 seconds you know exactly who Jim Rockford is--his job, his work, his home life, what he values. He's inviting you into his world, and you want to go.
@sumbitches
True story: We were studying the Arthurian legend in high school, and my English teacher started showing us Monty Python and the Holy Grail--not knowing *at all* that it was a comedy. About halfway through, he turned it off. (I'm amazed we got that far.)
Hard to top what we saw on HBO tonight. Those battles were thrilling and unpredictable. Everything was so well-choreographed and easy to follow. And I didn't expect those characters to die!! On top of that, it was hilarious! What will

do next?!
This month on the

Unwrapped podcast, from the archives of Wrapped in Plastic magazine, the Frank Silva (aka Bob) interview with commentary from

Without Harley Peyton,
#TwinPeaks
would not have lasted as long as it did. He gave us a full second season--without which we may never have had FWWM or a third season. Thanks Harley!
For some reason Amazon is unable to get my order of the Twin Peaks Blu-ray delivered to me today. This, despite the fact I ordered it the day it became available. So, I canceled the order and went to Best Buy.
Five years ago today: About to watch Part 12 of
#TwinPeaks
The Return in the real-life Palmer House. Thanks Mary Reber (
@alicetremond
)! I’ll never forget it.
I’ve only given this book a quick skim, but from what I see it looks pretty good. I’m a bit burned out on
#TwinPeaks
analysis right now (4 straight years of writing about Twin Peaks will do that), but I might sample a few chapters here.
I found a file of pictures from
#TwinPeaks
Fests of yore. I'll post a few over the next couple of days. Here's a nice one of
@RealCharStewart
and Catherine Coulson from 2004:
The
#TwinPeaks
pilot aired 29 years ago today. If you didn’t videotape it, you weren’t going to see it again for a long time. Here are the earliest home video releases (w/ European ending): UK videotape, Japanese laserdisc (& dvd), US laserdisc.
Five years ago today I attended the world premiere of
#TwinPeaks
:The Return in Los Angeles. Thank you
@mfrost11
for inviting me. I’ll never forget the energy and excitement of that night.
Sorry I missed this year’s Twin Peaks UK fest. Instead I visited ground zero at the Trinity test sight. (No sign of Bob, frogmoths, or evil eggs.) All jokes aside, this is a sobering, fascinating place to visit.
Terribly sad to hear of Robert Forster's passing. I met him briefly a few years ago, and we chatted about Twin Peaks and Breaking Bad. He was very kind and gracious. My condolences to his family.
