Idk why but Instagram is the only platform I’ve ever bought anything from the ads. It’s not often but every once in a while they’ll show me a Cool Product™ I legit need or want. Every other platform, it’s like you know why it’s showing you a certain ad, but they all suck.

I made a PowerShell script that lets you install the Microsoft Store into Windows Sandbox 🧐 (Link in replies). And yes it works to install apps from the store. As usual, it uses zero third party APIs or dependencies.

Whenver I see a setting like "send anonymous analytics reports" for an app, if it's enabled by default I always disable it. But if it's disabled by default I usually enable it. 😌.

Uh oh, ConsumerLab's payment processor may have been hacked 👀 Got a random charge for gift cards today. It's a virtual card (from Privacy .com) and only used for that site. Fortunately the card is merchant locked so the charge was blocked. Not sure why the $0 authorization

Really the only reason I still use Chrome is because it's always the first to patch zero-days. Even Edge sometimes takes an entire day to merge a patch, which seems insane to me. You'd think there would be coordination so at least Edge gets patched simultaneously.

College professors are failing students for using em-dashes in papers, thinking it's a smoking gun for using AI. Meanwhile Microsoft Word automatically converts dashes to em dashes 🙄

Today I learned alkaline batteries don't always just leak, but can actually explode with a loud pop. 🤔. Have a device with 3 AAAs in parallel that must have drained equally over about 2 years. Heard a loud pop 3 times within a week, 2 in the same day. The 3rd time I had.
