When you say
"... length of URL ..."
I assume you mean the number of directories in the path,
rather than the number of characters
?
As far as I'm aware, the only real influence path-depth (and char-count) have is that G is more likely to opt for the shorter as a canonical?

I'm not sure if G prefers shorters as canonical. Shopify is a really good example of this. Shopify is a really good example of this as it generates both short and long URLs for products...

In my experience, and all things being equal, the page closer to the root, will rank better.
I'm certainly not devaluing the impace internal links have in communicating the page's importance to Google.

URL length is not an issue at all. But URL STRUCCTURE has nothing to do with length. URL STRUCTURE is the path flow between content zones and naming of folders / dubwebs allows SEO TACTITIANS to structure URL NAMES that have very relevant strings instead of random characters
