Just did my absolute favourite job of the year, which is individually telling all the team what they are getting this year as part of the agency profit share scheme. π
No better way to celebrate success than to simply share the reward with the people that made it happen π

Couple of points on that:
i) If you start out paying profit shares yearly, it should smooth out any good/bad month bumps you get from business not being steady.
ii) If things are going badly (low/no profit) then the payouts reflect this, so you're protected

Essentially we earmark a % of our operating profit every year as 'the pot', this is then divided between the team and weighted on their primarily on days employed and secondarily on salary.
People start accruing now as soon as they pass probation (no longer a 1 year wait).
