If you love using our app, especially with our recent redesign and dark mode, please leave us a review on the Play Store or the App Store!
We've received lots of incredible feedback on here over the last month or so and we'd love more people to see it! ❤️
Due to an unprecedented number of new signups, we've had to take the app offline in order to upgrade our servers. We're very sorry for the downtime!
You'll be able to backdate your reading progress to maintain your streaks/January Pages Challenge once we're back online!
Phase 1 of our redesign — to improve both the UI and user experience — is out! 🎉
Not only have we updated our look, we’ve also given you more functionality and made pre-existing features easier to access!
Oh, and we now have Dark Mode too! 😎
We've launched author-approved content warnings!
We've also pushed several updates to the user-added tags including a smart filter to only display a summary on the book page and the ability to click through to the review linked to each content warning added.
An update!
On top of the earlier proposed changes, we want to add the concept of author-approved content warning tags. If those exist, only those show up on the book's front page (though you'll still be able to see all reviews with content warnings on another page).
We're excited to announce that The StoryGraph is now in the Apple App Store! 🥳
(And for all of our Android users — our Play Store app should be live in a matter of days! 🤞🏾)
We've made it to number 1 in the US App Store Book charts, ahead of all the Amazon-owned apps! 🥳
Thank you for your support everyone!
Share with all of your book-loving friends to help us stay at the top!
For everybody waiting on Goodreads imports, our queue has been backed up due to incredibly high traffic over the last few days!
Imports are now taking 2-3 days to complete.
Sorry for the delay and we hope you think the wait was worth it once you can see all of your stats! 😁
Today StoryGraph reached 1 million user signups! 🎉
To celebrate, we’re running a giveaway!🙌🏾
We’ll be sending one lucky winner a book of their choice (up to a value of $20). 📚
To enter, comment telling us how you found out about StoryGraph and what your favourite feature is!
We now ignore "A", "An", and "The" when you sort your StoryGraph lists by title, making the app a much more helpful bookstore and library companion! 🙌🏾
Our Streak feature is now live! 🎉
Streaks are customisable - from one page a day, to 20 minutes every three days, to 1000 pages a week, and everything in between! 😎
You can turn this feature on from the Preferences page!
Happy tracking! 🔥
We have an app!
You can use it by adding the website to your phone’s home screen! It works on all phones!
Note - there’s no back button yet so you’ll have to swipe from the left-most edge of your screen to the right.
There’ll be many improvements to the app coming over time!
Buddy reads are now live! 🎉
Discuss books with friends, leaving live reactions at specific parts of the book, get suggestions on who to read with, and if you're a Plus member, we'll suggest the best books to read with your buddies.
Start a buddy read from any book page today!
Delighted to announce that you can now add content warnings to your reviews, and there’s an extra text box for more detail or for other warnings you want to add. 🥳
ALSO spoiler tags are now a thing. 😎

Have you seen our new search dropdown?
It's keyboard navigable, accessible via screen readers and VoiceOver, and we've made a few tweaks to our search indexing to help improve the quality of the top hits! 🙌🏾
We hope y'all find the books you're looking for much quicker now! 😁
We're very sorry about the harm or trauma caused to readers and authors alike around inaccurate content warning tags.
We’re taking it very seriously and are working on updating our system right now to address this.
A few days ago we passed 2 million user signups! 🎉
Thank you to everyone who has tried the product so far! ❤️
We’re improving StoryGraph every single day, based on all of your wonderful feedback.
The rest of this year and Q1 of 2024 is shaping up to be exciting. 😁
Hi everyone! Huge welcome to all of our new users and followers. 🎉
Please bear with us — we are VERY BEHIND on the Goodreads imports.
Working hard to process all of those waiting!
We've made it to number 4 in the UK charts, and number 10 in the States! 🎉
Thank you for your support everyone! 🥰
Please keep downloading and telling your friends to help us get to number 1!
Eeek! We just passed a quarter of a million users! 🎉
Thank you to everyone who's given us a chance! We love continually improving the product for y'all. 🥰
We’ve just launched a brand new Recommendations section! 🥳
Everyone gets their own personalised StoryGraph "bookstore"! 😍
Browse lists curated just for you, including genre picks, suggestions based on your recent reads, books similar users loved, and more. ✨
We're currently dealing with a huge influx of people on the app.
Sorry if you're experiencing errors or timeouts.
We're working on it as we speak, and expect to be fully operational soon!
Wow — we’re already charting at 5 in Books in the App Store in the UK (and 12 in the US)!
Spots 2, 3, and 4 are owned by Amazon. Help us get to number 1!
Download the app now and tell your friends!
New in — author pages! You can access them by clicking an author's name on a book pane.
We've still got improvements to make to search and the book database (coming over this next week), but this is a step in helping you more easily find what you're looking for!
This week we've got an exciting update coming to one of our most popular features. It’s something that a lot of you have asked for! 👀
We'll also be going through all of the feedback we received on audiobook tracking and stats last week and start implementing some changes! 😁
The StoryGraph 2022 Reading Wrap-up is live!! 🎉

We’re excited to announce the launch of our new, stats-focused Plus plan! 🎉
With Plus, you can now create your own pie and bar charts and view them in your very own custom stats dashboard.
Find out what else is on offer on the Plus page in-app!
NEW STATS! 🎉
Now you can see which genres you’re reading and how the number of books and pages you’ve read change over time.
Enjoy!! ☺️
(First dip for my reading this year was when the pandemic started and the second was when we had our large user spike!)
We're not trying to come for, call out, or attack anybody, but…
What’s your owned read/unread percentage? 👀
(You can find this chart in your Owned Books stats!)
If you'd like to help improve the book data on StoryGraph, please consider becoming a volunteer librarian!
You can apply from anywhere in the world and there's no minimum time commitment.
For more info and application details, drop us an email at support

We've made a few changes to how streak tracking works to make the whole experience smoother, including the fact that we now calculate your streak progress all the way back until your account's creation date!
Enjoy! 🔥

Readers and authors, we need your help!
One proposed update: on the review section of a book, only show a summary of content warnings that have passed some threshold (threshold to be determined).
These tags will be shown in some chart/graphical format, rather than a list.
Frustrating day, y'all — I'm soooo close to making the search results behave (exact matches at the top) but the code won't play ball. 😭
Send me good vibes! I'll crack it. 💪🏾

Our 2023 reading challenges are now live!! 🎉
They are great for learning about the app's features and reading more widely throughout the year!
To find them, head to ‘Reading Challenges’ in the menu bar in the app, and then “Browse” top-right. They're at the top of the page. ☺️
Two new additions to reviews today!
One to identify if a fiction book is mainly plot- or character-driven and another (for all books) to help us enhance our upcoming "similar books" feature!
If you have any ideas for questions we can add to our nonfiction reviews, let us know!
New and improved audiobook tracking and stats are finally here, just in time for
#AudiobookMonth
!! 🎉
Choose to have audiobooks automatically logged as pages or as minutes, see listening data in your charts, update your progress using a timestamp, set an Hours Goal, and more! 🙌🏾
Based on the feedback we've received on the January Pages Challenge, we've changed how it works. Now you can backdate your progress updates! 🥳
Our main aim is to get people reading a little bit every day, even if you don't manage to get into the app.
Happy reading! ☺️

Your 2021 StoryGraph Reading Wrap-Up is still coming!
Work on it has been slightly delayed given a couple of things that cropped up last week, but we hope it'll be out in a matter of days. 🤞🏾
Stay tuned to your in-app notifications! 👀
We've taken our progress tracking to the next level! 🎉
Pages read are immediately added to your stats, and you can add notes: quotes, reflections, content warnings you want to remember, and more!
And voilà — your very own (private) digital reading journal! 😎
Coming soon (hopefully!) to a StoryGraph reading preferences survey near you: topics, themes, and tropes you don’t like and types of content (think of our list of content warnings…) you never want to read about.
This will help us make our recommendations to you even better!
You can now search through a book's editions via ISBN, format, and language, and then switch your records over!
If the edition you're looking for isn't on the site, you can import it or add it manually, depending on whether it has an ISBN or not! 🥳
We've finally started working on the next version of the stats dashboard. Expect to see a handful of new charts over the coming week.
First up, formats!
To handle books that don't yet have a format specified, we've given you the option to set a default format within the app! 😁
UPDATE: Turns out our database just wasn't good enough for all the intensive stuff we were doing.
We upgraded it last night amongst some other tweaks of our scripts, and now...
We've caught up with GR imports (same-day delivery atm 😎) and the OFY queue is about 1.5k long! 💪🏾
UPDATE: We've had to slow down imports again due to performance issues on the site while running them.
Y'all would rather the site was fast and usable, right, even if it delayed your imports and "Ordered for you" (OFY) by days? 😅
Current remaining GR imports: 1200, OFY: 8000.
Pages read towards books you don't finish now count towards your page stats! 🎉
You can go back and update any of your 2021 DNFs so that your page goal progress is accurate! 👌🏾
Coming up: tracking pages read day-to-day and progress notes. 🙌🏾
Thank you to the 31,426 users who took part in our January Pages Challenge and congratulations to the 8928 people who successfully read and tracked it on StoryGraph every day! 🎉
The winners of the prize draw have been contacted.

The second half of this year will be focused on taking StoryGraph's Community features to the next level. 🥳
What's one **new** community/social feature you'd love to see this year?
What's one current community/social feature you'd love to see **improved** this year?
New stats options coming soon for Plus users as we transition the package to being stats-focused! 👀
As we make this transition, a bunch of currently paid features will become free for everyone, including Up Next Suggestions and Buddy Read Book Suggestions! 😁
UPDATE: We were making great progress yesterday but we've hit a couple of roadblocks so have had to pause imports for now.
I won't be super responsive on here until we've solved these issues and we can get you your imports and "Ordered for you"! 💪🏾
Thank you for your patience!
UPDATE: we're prioritising getting Goodreads imports done and _then_ we'll work on the processing of "Ordered for you".

🧡
UPDATE: There's only about 500 GR Imports in the queue so wait time is now looking more like one day. 😁
Also, we've started processing "Ordered for you" — about 200 people just had it unlocked! 🎉
We're hoping to get through our 14k-long OFY queue over the next few days! 🤞🏾
UPDATE: We are finally seeing the light at the end of tunnel with the GR imports! If you submitted yours last week and don't hear anything by the end of this week (do check the site first, some emails have gotten lost), then please email us so we can look into it for you!
Have you visited your stats page recently? 📊
Now you can access your To-Read, DNF, and Owned Books stats from one place! 🙌🏾
Plus users: we’ll be bringing these new options to the Compare Stats feature soon! 😎
Our Up Next feature is now live! 🥳
Better organise and work through your To-Read list by queuing up the books you want to read next.
You can even drag and drop the books into your desired order!
Stay tuned for a special addition coming soon for Plus users. 👀
Two more charts have just gone live! 🙌🏾
In the "all-time" view, you can now see a scatter chart of your read date vs. the book's publication year, and, for each month, there's a line chart showing how many pages you've read each day (populated via progress updates)!😁
The StoryGraph 2021 Reading Wrap-up is finally live!! 🎉
We hope you love yours. 😊
(Oh and if you don’t have one and want one, add/import your 2021 data and you’ll be presented with an option to generate one on your stats page. 😁)
Soon we’re going to start working on groups and book clubs! 🙌🏾
As always, we’d love your input!
What would you like to see? How would you like the first iteration of these features to work?
We're now officially an affiliate of
@librofm
! 🙌🏾
Look out for "Buy" links on our audio editions soon.
In the meantime, if you sign up to a new membership (US and Canada only) and enter code STORYGRAPH at checkout, you'll get a free audiobook for your first month! 😁
UPDATE: We've now fully caught up!! 🎉
Sign up for "Ordered for you" or a GR import right now? It'll take minutes! 🤩
Thank you all so very much for your incredible support and patience over the last two weeks. ❤️
Now let's get onto building something excellent for y'all. 😎
Our friends feature is finally live! 🎉
You can send and receive friend requests, and when you become friends with somebody, you’ll automatically follow one another!
As we release new community features, such as buddy reads, you’ll be able to apply the ‘friends only’ setting.
We’re very excited to bring you the “For You” section in our new Giveaways platform launching next week.
We’ll make sure that you see all of the competitions featuring books that we think you’ll love! 😁
We’re very excited to announce the launch of Up Next Suggestions. 🥳
Plus users (or those on a free trial) can now enjoy personalised suggestions for what to pick up next from their To-Read Pile!
We even tell you exactly why we think each book would be a great fit! 😊
New look StoryGraph hot off the press! 🙌🏾
The goal was to keep the site clean and minimal while enhancing the user experience.
This is just the beginning of a bunch of improvements we’ve got planned.
We hope you like what we’ve done so far! ☺️
Did you know that you can create custom tags and lists on StoryGraph? 👀
Start by typing in the name of your new tag in the tag section at the bottom of any book pane.
If you make the list public, you can then share it with people who don't have StoryGraph accounts! 😎
In a bid to reduce spam/unhelpful ratings and reviews, we've made it so that: you can only add a review to a book if you've marked it as 'read', and if you add a review and then remove the book from your 'read' pile, the review is deleted.
Y'all will be pleased to know that we plan to include custom tags and lists in The StoryGraph in advance of our launch!
Naturally, nearer to the time, we'll seek feedback on how you'd like to see these manifested in the product! 😁
