I was planning on a good long hunting trip later in the month, but we booked 2 major projects in the last week of October, so those plans are getting canceled. My team told me I needed to take some time off and they could handle things, so I decided to move my trip up to this

I was finally able to get the time to close our books for Sept, Q3 and our 4th month post-acquisition. While generally speaking, we are not where I want us to be, we have made a ton of progress and the numbers tell that story. I have to remind myself my goal was to come in

This one is getting some traction. Seems like a lot of people feel this challenge. You know what another challenge is? Having 3 people to answer phones.. 1 is on vacation, 1 in Michigan os having internet issues (validated issues with router) and 1 third party employee
I'm not sure how to fully describe this challenge with owning a small business, but it happens to be the challenge that frustrates me the most. It seems like everything that needs to get done, I have to be the expert in it first and tell everyone else how to do it. Example:

I must have been too busy eating crayons to realize the Navy was only around for a few weeks before they realized they needed the Marine Corp to protect them.

Setting my alarm to wake up early tomorrow to be in the deer stand well before sunrise. And it's actually sleeping in when compared to my normal alarm waking up to get to the shop before everyone else every day.

Have 2 of my employees covering the phones tonight and this weekend for emergency calls and I'm officially checking out. Deer season is here and hunt camp is calling. Good way to celebrate what looks to be about 85% YOY growth in Sept and finishing at +45% for Q3. No more

My neighbor, and fractional controller of my HVAC company, ended up with mould as a result of his current hvac system. A mold remediation and hvac company quoted the remediation of the mold (removal of duct work) and then replacement of both ductwork and HVAC system. Rheem 14

I suck at taking before pictures, but this room took 10 full 50 gallon trash cans to clean out. That back wall was full of servers, switches and nonsense from over 20 years of new technology that never got removed when new was put it. This is passive business ownership Making

Ran the SMS marketing campaign starting Friday of last week and it ran for 4 days. Results so far... 31 booked jobs, $14k in revenue, with $45k in estimates still in play. Need to find a way to get out of the day to day knife fight and build a platform to farm our customer
I think we have officially hit the shoulder season, but we get a spike in volume in Oct when all the part-timers come down for the winter season. Decided to try out an SMS marketing campaign to former customers and made the mistake of kicking it off on Friday evening. Texts

What's one of the benefits of acquiring a 30-year-old hvac company instead of starting from scratch? Thumbtack lead comes in from a guy looking for a service call for his dad. Won't book the call because he wants to price shop. After getting off the call, I looked up his name

I happen to not be an expert in marketing/lead generation at all. But, I happen to actually be an expert in marketing analytics and multi-source ROI attribution modeling I didn't have to build a complex multi-source attribution model to see that as of now, Thumbtack is a

Now that I own an HVAC company, I basically want it to stay as hot and muggy as it can But.. It's hard to complain about a clear sky sunny morning of 69 degrees while driving into the office to get some weekend work done.

I love negotiating (debating) with a home owner about whether I should charge $800 or $600 to replace an 18" return, in one of her two houses in Florida while she traveling back to her third house in Texas.

Being perp walked across the store, just to make sure I dont steal a vacuum, is one of the reasons I shop more on Amazon. It's like she couldn't believe I needed her to get the vacuum out of the case and that I actually had a good reason to buy it. It made me quite

Lots of factors that can impact the success of the business. We have been growing without any meaningful impact on marketing and have stayed relatively flat on headcount. Raised prices to market rates in the middle of June, yet estimate closing rates have increased. Still

As a home owner, I wouldn't be bothered by his review given my response and explanation (chatGPT helps me be less snarky). I can only hope Google doesn't ding us too much for a single 1 star review .
@therobertbrooks This is a tough place I’ve been in. Over and over I find myself catering to insane demands for reviews. The only reviews I’ve successfully removed were from an employee we fired for theft. @irentdumpsters

Customer for a few years. Didn't like our price on a TXV replacement. Said he would go elsewhere, so I charged him the trip charge. Blasts us with a 1 star review on Google within an hour. Clear extorsion. I can get this cleared under Google's review policy right?
