- Don't mix the M&E so loud it drowns out your voice
- Don't add a crazy amount of processing, mucks the DX
- Be specific/make choices, too many have "generic protag voice," hard to stand out!

Wendee, the defensiveness and lack of empathy is really disappointing. The episode with Anairis went to air. It's unfair to say this was merely a scheduling issue. Being upset for her isn't a slight on you, it's not zero sum. Just the reality in seeing the studio failed you both.

One of the things I most like about our casting process is the effort to go out and find newer talent, often folks from underrepresented groups. And you know what? They always kick butt! Really hope we can avoid the field falling back into the repetitive castings of pre-pandemic.

Look, y'all, fandubs/comic dubs are fine for practicing with your friends. Everyone does it. Just don't put that forward when submitting professional work. Beyond the legal stuff, it doesn't show what you think it shows; we want to see original work, skill, and not imitation.

For folks in the Dubbing world, my guess is that *if* they were to place this in LA, I'd be extremely surprised if they didn't remote in the existing OP dub cast. But I also wouldn't be surprised if Toei self-delivers (i.e. dub done in Texas as usual). Just my speculation tho.

💫 Union dubbing projects are a good thing.💫 I can see some space for negotiation re: simulcasting and a need to adjust the minimums (you'd very rarely get 2-3hrs for one animation ep), but working w/ SAG is not the apocalypse some folks think it is. Try it out! They won't bite.
Unions protect the workers they represent chiefly by giving them collective bargaining power, meaning that instead of negotiating the terms of your employment individually, one-on-one, the union negotiates baseline minimums for everyone all at once. (1/8)

When I had a big open call for new talent at Iyuno, we received 1,300 submissions. I was able to review 800~, of which only 100 were viable. Only a few (<5) were ultimately used. And that's just *new* people.
Shoot for it if it's your passion, just be honest about the challenge!
No one is telling new VAs to give up without even trying, but it’s important to know that social media doesn’t always make it obvious that for most people, anime is a career that’s typically over a decade in the making. Prepare for the marathon and you’ll be okay.

I can confirm that in practice SAG is super easy to work with and the admin requirements are minimal. There would definitely be stuff to discuss--minimums, mainly--but, I see no good and legitimate reason not to at least sit down for a no-commitment meeting.

I get where SAG's coming from, and there's a good case that early protections create market expectations, but I think there's a real risk the Replica deal just legitimizes AI in VG work. Yes, it will be out there, but it should be shunned categorically, given no quarter.

This is an important point I think some TX folks may not fully appreciate. You could still be non-union, eligible to work on *anything*, including SAG projects given the state RTW law w/o *ever* being "forced" to join.
Best of both worlds. Literally *no* downside for TX folk!
Texas is a right-to-work state, which means actors who only work within its borders are never required to join SAG-AFTRA, no matter how many union jobs they work (though joining still has plenty of benefits!)
