Intro to cOAlitionS proposal says traditional academic publishing is "not keeping up" with how science is performed & shared, adding it's "simply too slow." COVID showed we need "faster and more efficient publishing models." We agree & what about cancer, T2D, HF, rare dis, etc?

On avg physicians spend only 90 seconds reading a medical journal article & that paper if pharma supported could take mean >300 hrs (range up to >1100) hrs for medcomm agency to develop, per data @ISMPP2023. Shows oppty to reduce time/cost & develop pubs people can actually read

This isn't good business practice to treat academic authors and funders like this. For a new peer-reviewed, OA, visual publishing channel that gives authors/funders more control check us out. We'd certainly partner w Gates Foundation to publish your data with low or no APC

One way to make #OpenAccess publishing unsustainable is hiring a law firm to hunt down APC payments.

Would you rather read a 10 page pdf w 3500 words or the publication enhancement, eg, a 2 minute video or 15 slide presentation? We work to publish quality, peer-reviewed medical data in a visual format, ie, no long-form text needed. Yes, most data fits this "enhancement" format.

Open access is only part of the solution. What about timeliness (typical paper takes 15+months) & format of the publication (long-form text doesn't fit today's needs). Start-up @theresearchpost works to speed the pace, ⬇️ $ & advance format thru visual med research communication

As patient advocate, @sharonfterry of @GeneticAlliance has had to be creative to gain access to peer-reviewed evidence, tailgating students into libraries, borrowing login details and volunteering for orgs with journal subscriptions to avoid paywalls. #OpenAccess #ISMPPAnnual2023

Patients with severe asthma are at greater risk of exacerbations/hospitalizations & higher $$. A peer-reviewed study in TheResearchPost from the real-world CHRONICLE Study reports that about 1 in 3 pts achieved clinical remission with ≥12 mos biologic use https://t.co/i5UX6FuiXt

Lots of buzz about AI chatbot that writes academic content, maybe even manuscripts that can pass peer-review. If that means 3000-4000 word papers that don't match how people want to read/share info today, have at it. We'll keep building our peer-reviewed channel on visual format

It's medical conference time. Looking to publish your data? Check out TheResearchPost. You can submit your slides/poster as slides (vs long-text manuscript) & we'll peer-review & if accepted publish quickly. Your data can help build this new approach to peer-reviewed publishing.

World Series team batting avgs of about .230 for Phillies & Astros for postseason matches typical peer-reviewed journal acceptance rates, often <20-30%. That probably doesn't mean most research is too flawed to publish but does show oppty for new, faster pub channel to meet needs

We agree patients depend on info from clinicians/researchers/other. For us that means not only how medical research is communicated but WHEN. It almost ALWAYS takes TOO LONG. We're working to speed up med research communication & publish in a format people can actually use & read

Data show the median time to publish a medical research manuscript is 15 months from end of study. That's too long & can negatively impact patients. Submit to accelerate the pace to publish your medical/health research & publish in a visual format people can actually use.

Value statements to put patients 1st are everywhere. This startup is working to publish peer-reviewed medical research faster & in a visual format that is accessible to all, incl patients, and better matches how people read/share info today. Typical pts don't attend med cogresses

Every pharma/#healthcare/medical device company should have an internal SME (subject matter expert) who identifies as a patient, caregiver/care partner, or both to guide the development process. There is no proxy for the patient voice as to best optimize the #patientexperience 🙌
