Getting new followers is mildly terrifying. A quick intro if you're new here: this account is anti-cop, anti-prison, and pro-sex work. I like reality TV and get really publicly depressed. If I wanted to argue with someone I'd call my brother.

Very important! I’ve been trying to figure out how to say this because I’m grateful for the allyship but in moments like this allies are often heard more than actual trans folks and the focus shifts in a way that forgets us.
Yes, anti-trans sentiments do hurt all women, but the focus should always be on trans people they are the ones who are materially harmed the most when it comes to transphobia we must keep them centered

For @TIME, I wrote a little love note about voice messaging. Getting to hear a loved one's voice is always a treat but my takeaway is that it is a small act of love to reach out and want to talk to your pals, however you do it. Give it a read:

"It’s a small act of love, I think, to want to talk to someone—however you choose to do it," writes Rainesford Stauffer.

Wrote about Sook-Yin Lee's latest movie @xtramagazine, bringing together some of my areas of interest: Montreal comics, Toronto of the past, sex work in media, the confusion of romantic relationships:

Happy update to the Annex location of magazine emporium Presse Internationale that was supposed to close last Nov. The owners found a new storefront just a few metres away. Current spot closing Jan 20, new spot reopening end of Jan/beginning of Feb. https://t.co/Vf26FdmOoH.

Anti-trans legislation, rising hate crimes and hateful political rhetoric are some of the most pressing issues impacting queer and trans Canadians

What’s funny (or irritating) about the conversation around whether EMILIA PEREZ should be critic proof because “at least a trans film is getting attention” is that, in 2024, we got at least three other films released *by trans directors* that aren’t being discussed or awarded.

my final music room column is now online - closed it out with a review of @Drewmcleod9's Heaven Hang Over Me, a colicky testament to trying. in 4.5 years as maisonneuve's music critic i reviewed 70+ canadian albums. grateful to the mag for giving my adjectives a home.
"In my four years writing the Music Room column, I’ve tried to champion music that avoids the straight-ahead—artists that dig into the muck of life and grasp at possibility." Our winter issue features @rosielongdecter's final reviews for the Music Room: https://t.co/ILKgT1XcVl

Man quotes James Baldwin but also refuses to use a condom and thinks woman's energy is "too much" because she is stressed with work/school and PMSing, calls off marriage. Season is wild. Leftist men are still men.
Jaw on the floor watching Love Is Blind cuz a dude on the show told his partner that if she ever rejoined the military he would instantly divorce her because he stands with people who suffer under “the hammer of US imperialism” and cited Palestine as an example
