An ancestor appears in the Leicestershire Mercury 1854. It must be a first for the parish. "A woman, Sarah Matilda George, has been appointed overseer of the poor for Misson, near Retford. Fancy her taking out orders for removal".

In my role as a tour guide at Beverley Minster I see many photo opportunities in all weathers, images of beauty that sometimes take my breath away.

One of several spiral staircases in Beverley Minster, the north nave porch. A memorial 1815 caught my eye to Mrs Margaret Stow aged 84. #ERArchives have catalogued 12 letters, to Margaret from the Grimston family of Kilnwick Hall in the 1770s. Margaret was their housekeeper.

1924 & 2024 Hornsea.A new wall, built after part of the Promenade was swept away in March 1906. Split into two levels, it was built of armoured concrete, and the foundations were taken down 20 feet below ground level. The Marine Hotel remains safe from the ravages of the sea.

The 'Ladies of the Night' in 1889 is where Rosetta Fletcher, nèe Farrow of the Farrow's Peas dynasty ran away to. She was my Great Grandfather's first wife. She died in Boston Workhouse aged 45 & I laid a rose on her unpurchased grave plot under a tree in the old cemetery.

The South Nave door, between King Athelstan and St. John of Beverley, was opened today & it was a lot like Summer out there. The Churchyard & Sanctuary Garden with a variety of herbs, oak seats to sit on and soak up the sun, was very appealing, & our visitors thought so too.

My Silver Swans ballet teacher said I was like a 'prima ballerina assoluta' today which I had to look up on the internet. I went wrong a bit on the grand battement and tendu, but I must have looked as if I knew what I was doing! #SilverSwans #RADSilverSwans

Last night a talk on Beverley Minster history to the Kilnwick Countrywomen's Association. Their church has the Minster's old 1660 pulpit sold to them for 3 guineas in 1726. Today I gave a talk on Walking the Holderness Coast to the Thursday Forward Group at Hull's Garden Village.

From the windswept expanse of Walling Fen, to the manned railway crossing at Crabley Creek, we reached Broomfleet and the leaning tower of St. Mary's church. New Year's Day gave us glorious weather after all the wind and rain.

My parents were married on this day in 1950 and their reception was at the Angel Hotel in Peterborough. 55 luncheons, 6 bottles of Montague Harrier Sherry and Orange Squash. Total cost £29 13/-. The average weekly wage in 1950 was just over £7.
