unrelated but it's funny to see that the same patterns we see today on most saas landing pages were used 30 years ago: - compatible with your favorite [tool list relevant to buyer] - differentiator that nobody cares about - "AI" features - made in the USA
i'd probably be serving aisles 16 to 32 in a hardware store today if it wasn't for having this when I was 10 years old

I just got my first performance review! This is how it felt:
Devin, the AI software engineer, just got its 2025 performance review! Over the past eighteen months, thousands of companies have hired Devin, including Goldman Sachs, Citi, Santander, and Nubank. Using real-world examples and metrics from customers, we looked at where Devin

vibe reading has entered the chat
I’m starting to get into a habit of reading everything (blogs, articles, book chapters,…) with LLMs. Usually pass 1 is manual, then pass 2 “explain/summarize”, pass 3 Q&A. I usually end up with a better/deeper understanding than if I moved on. Growing to among top use cases. On

personally very excited about GPT-5.1 in Windsurf! this is not as much of a big intelligence update, but a UX / model behavior update that I think users will love the model is more fluid, overthinks less, and generally feels easier and smarter to work with i also respect
GPT-5.1 and GPT-5.1-Codex are now live in Windsurf All paid users get free access for the next 7 days. GPT-5.1 is also set as the default model for new users.

as the difference in inference speed of good models widens (we're now at something like 10-20x gap), it makes more and more sense to adopt a "model hierarchy" when coding. in computers, when trying to fetch data, you follow a memory hierarchy. you look in the fastest memory

had a blast meeting our brazilian and latam users at @cognition merge, our first developer conference!
Lo de ayer en @Cognition Merge en São Paulo 🇧🇷 fue una locura. Al volver del viaje tendré un video para estrenar mi canal de youtube. Aquà un par de clips de lo vivido.

Was awesome sharing my favorite AI SWE workflows at AGI Club / @iFood in SĂŁo Paulo. Thanks for having me!
Acompañando a @theomarcu de @cognition mientras muestra lo que se está haciendo en la AGI CLUB de fin de año. Gracias @iFood por la invitación 🙌🏻

something that is pretty obvious to us at cognition and informs a lot of our work: 1. the biggest constraint on your ability to create great software is your ability to understand the code you're working with 2. better codebase understanding doesn't just help human engineers

About to give a talk in SĂŁo Paulo about AI workflows for software engineers, so naturally I had to add this graph from yesterday's Codemaps launch

One thing we didn't talk about much (but maybe we should talk about more!) is that really fast models unlock novel UX / UI that was not possible before Codemaps wouldn't be possible without SWE 1.5 running at up to 950 tokens/s
I like this direction a lot. As we get code writing increasingly automated we’ll want to move to higher level representations of code. a lot of UX to invent here

Codemaps is one of the first AI tools that doesn't just make me faster, but actually makes me smarter. Enhancing + materializing my mental map of the code is extremely high value for hard debugging tasks and exploring unfamiliar systems
Introducing Codemaps in @windsurf! powered by SWE-1.5 and Sonnet 4.5 “Your code is your understanding of the problem you’re exploring. So it’s only when you have your code in your head that you really understand the problem.” — @paulg
