@FDACosmetics scientists collaborated with @US_FDA’s National Center for Toxicological Research on a study that found that an additional type of bacteria can contaminate tattoo inks. Read why this is important at https://t.co/fwepzNsOSx

Talk about blowin smoke up your ___
Don't. Do. This. #GwynethPaltrow tells world she "used ozone therapy, rectally." Reality: "Ozone is a toxic gas with no known useful medical application..." – @US_FDA Maddening (but no surprise) @MailOnline legitimizes this BS! https://t.co/bXpK7U6GIw cc @DrJenGunter

I don't really know how to articulate my need but does anyone have a referral to someone knowledgeable about the meat industry and its byproducts? (food consumption, leather, collagen, tallow etc). Looking for statistics of use. Thank you!

Dr A reminds us about Paracelsus saying dose is poison but who is deciding what the poison is? Finding the dose that doesn’t cause harm works for a lot of things but not endocrine disruption. Talks about “non-monotonic dose response.”

Panel with Dr Acervedo and @CaulfieldTim. Seems to be a disagreement on value of non-GMO. Dr A mentions pesticides needed on GMO which is a health risk? I think non-GMO would require too? @kevinfolta?

Dr Acervedo admits 2004 paraben study is flawed but says it’s a smart strategy to avoid permitted parabens and there is just cause to believe that all of them cause harm as endocrine disrupters based on her research in endocrine disrupters.

Why doesn’t anyone remember the CIR actively reviewed and assembles safety data for ingredients?

Lack of data does not equate safety. I do want to point out the initial regulation in the US was founded in 1938 but has had several updates since then. Industry hasn’t been stagnant.

Clean beauty came from somewhere. It didn’t come from nowhere. We can ask questions like “why are we sicker now than we were three generations ago?” We May never get answers to these questions because they’re about complex systems.

Next speaker is Dr Nicole Acervedo, countering Dr Caulfield. Is the clean beauty movement grounded in scientific principles?

Have any of you drank urine to clear acne or tanned your testes to increase testosterone this year? Then you haven’t done the latest beauty trends. (AND DON’T START) #goscience

The stories of the elders in our industry always fascinate me. I wish I could have met Mr. Morrow and learned more about the products he created. There is so much to be learned!

He built an empire around hair care products aimed at African American consumers, including a softener that inspired the Jheri curl.

Plastic recycling doesn’t work and will never work.
theatlantic.com
If the plastics industry is following the tobacco industry’s playbook, it may never admit to the failure of plastics recycling.
