Tonight on #Svengoolie: it's Steven Spielberg's first commercial film! Dennis Weaver versus a sinister semi-truck in the 1971 made-for-television movie Duel. This is the very first TV movie that I distinctly remember watching. It made quite an impression on my young mind.

I don't watch much network television news anymore. It's been at least a couple of years since I tuned into an evening broadcast. But tonight I happened to watch NBC Nightly News... and I was very impressed at how impartial and unbiased it was. A good show. NBC, keep it up!

I have only ever driven through New York City. But if I lived there, I would absolutely vote for Curtis Sliwa for mayor. The man has a genuine love for his town. He has principles that he abides by. But the people of that city seem hellbent on electing a communist. So sad.

I've been substitute teaching to supplement my regular job. Today I filled in for a teacher whose class is honors forensic science. These 11th and 12th graders are studying things like autopsies, toxicology results, and firearms ballistics!! Definitely Batman-level stuff. Wow.
