#Osteochondritis #dissecans (#OCD) of the knee is diagnosed through exam & imaging. Patients often have pinpoint joint line or kneecap pain. X-rays and #MRI help detect lesions, loose fragments, cysts, and healing potential, especially in younger patients.
drrobertlaprademd.com
Osteochondritis dissecans knee can affect any joint in the body, but the knee is the most commonly affected joint.

In this video, Dr LaPrade breaks down how to read an MRI of an osteochondritis dissecans (OCD) lesion: what to look for, how stability is assessed, and why early recognition matters for joint preservation. https://t.co/Vj8p2eipnH

Long-term outcomes of meniscus transplantation keep improving 📊European data: most grafts last 12–15 yrs ⏳Arthritis progression often slows for a decade+ 🔁If the graft wears out but cartilage is still healthy, a revision is possible https://t.co/gAANiTtrc7

A lateral patellotibial ligament reconstruction can correct medial patellar instability after an over‑aggressive lateral release. Clinical exam + reverse McConnell taping help confirm the diagnosis. Learn more ➡️ https://t.co/LcMLuLom8P

PCL injuries usually come from high‑force trauma, like a bent knee hitting a dashboard, goalpost, or turf. These tears can destabilize the knee, making downhill motion or pivots tough. #PCL #sportsmedicine
drrobertlaprademd.com
Minnesota knee specialist Dr. Robert LaPrade discuses a PCL injury and how a posterior cruciate ligament tear occurs.

What does a snapping #hamstring sound like? It can be a loud clunk on the inner knee or a softer snap on the outer side. Snapping usually occurs with deep knee flexion, but medial tendons can also catch in extension or even hyperextension. https://t.co/Ppte0Guw38

Snapping hamstrings are a rare condition, but they can cause significant disability in patients who have this pathology.

Side-to-side #KneeInstability happens when ligaments on the inside or outside are injured. The knee may feel unstable with walking or side-planting. Chronic pain can mimic instability due to arthritis. Learn more: https://t.co/qbmbwnCz8b

Ligaments are made up of strong, dense connective tissue and are crucial to maintaining knee stability. Multi-ligament knee injuries hinder knee stability.

Don’t let the name fool you...#turftoe may be tiny, but it can take #NFL stars out of the game. #JoeBurrow and #BrockPurdy know how painful this small toe joint injury can be. Learn why it’s one of the most misunderstood injuries in sports. https://t.co/Cgu114hajm

A partial #meniscectomy is done arthroscopically using two small incisions. Surgeons remove only the torn portion of the meniscus, carefully “saucerizing” the tear, to prevent catching and pain while preserving as much shock-absorbing tissue as possible.

No…#MCL and medial #meniscus tears are not the same. The MCL is a ligament inside the knee that stops it from gapping. The medial meniscus is a cushion in the joint. Both can hurt at the joint line, but meniscus tears occur in ~10–15% of #MCL injuries.
drrobertlaprademd.com
Dr. LaPrade will perform an MCL reconstruction on patients who exhibit a grade III tear of the medial collateral ligament.

What #ACLreconstruction is best for teens? #IOC: early surgery helps prevent #cartilage & #meniscus damage. If growth plates are open, surgeons avoid hardware across thema & hamstring grafts are common. Re-tear risk ~30%; functional testing is essential.

A medial #meniscustear may require surgery if it causes pain during twisting, turning, pivoting, or squatting...or if it’s a complex tear that risks further damage. Repairs can help prevent future arthritis in younger patients with healthy cartilage.
drrobertlaprademd.com
A medial meniscus tear is more common than a lateral meniscus tear, because it is firmly attached to the deep medial collateral ligament and the joint capsule.

#Discoid #Meniscus often degenerative → inside-out sutures give stronger fixation. After saucerization, watch for pain, swelling, or X-ray changes—early arthritis warning. Malalignment? An unloader brace may help. https://t.co/LPsLYSXHEo

drrobertlaprademd.com
Due to the degenerative nature of the discoid meniscus Dr. LaPrade performs discoid meniscus surgery inside out sutures, rather than all inside devices.

ACL reconstructions are common but patients still face a 3–5x higher risk of posttraumatic arthritis. Early rehab especially restoring quadriceps function can slow cartilage degeneration. Experiencing symptoms? Dr LaPrade offers virtual/in-office consults.

Cartilage damage can lead to pain, swelling, and stiffness in the knee. One solution is OATS (#osteochondral #autograft transfer), a procedure that takes healthy #cartilage & bone from a low-stress area of the knee and places it into the damaged area.

One specific cartilage restoration procedure that has proven to bring patients relief, is an osteochondral autograft transfers (OATS).
