#Osteochondritis #dissecans (#OCD) of the knee is diagnosed through exam & imaging. Patients often have pinpoint joint line or kneecap pain. X-rays and #MRI help detect lesions, loose fragments, cysts, and healing potential, especially in younger patients.

Long-term outcomes of meniscus transplantation keep improving 📊European data: most grafts last 12–15 yrs ⏳Arthritis progression often slows for a decade+ 🔁If the graft wears out but cartilage is still healthy, a revision is possible https://t.co/gAANiTtrc7 #MeniscusTransplant

A lateral patellotibial ligament reconstruction can correct medial patellar instability after an over‑aggressive lateral release. Clinical exam + reverse McConnell taping help confirm the diagnosis. Learn more ➡️ https://t.co/LcMLuLom8P #kneepain #kneeinjury #sportsmedicine

PCL injuries usually come from high‑force trauma, like a bent knee hitting a dashboard, goalpost, or turf. These tears can destabilize the knee, making downhill motion or pivots tough. #PCL #sportsmedicine

What does a snapping #hamstring sound like? It can be a loud clunk on the inner knee or a softer snap on the outer side. Snapping usually occurs with deep knee flexion, but medial tendons can also catch in extension or even hyperextension. https://t.co/Ppte0Guw38 #kneepain

Snapping hamstrings are a rare condition, but they can cause significant disability in patients who have this pathology.

Side-to-side #KneeInstability happens when ligaments on the inside or outside are injured. The knee may feel unstable with walking or side-planting. Chronic pain can mimic instability due to arthritis. Learn more: https://t.co/qbmbwnCz8b #Orthopedics #KneePain #SportsMed

Ligaments are made up of strong, dense connective tissue and are crucial to maintaining knee stability. Multi-ligament knee injuries hinder knee stability.

A partial #meniscectomy is done arthroscopically using two small incisions. Surgeons remove only the torn portion of the meniscus, carefully “saucerizing” the tear, to prevent catching and pain while preserving as much shock-absorbing tissue as possible.

No…#MCL and medial #meniscus tears are not the same. The MCL is a ligament inside the knee that stops it from gapping. The medial meniscus is a cushion in the joint. Both can hurt at the joint line, but meniscus tears occur in ~10–15% of #MCL injuries.

What #ACLreconstruction is best for teens? #IOC: early surgery helps prevent #cartilage & #meniscus damage. If growth plates are open, surgeons avoid hardware across thema & hamstring grafts are common. Re-tear risk ~30%; functional testing is essential.

A medial #meniscustear may require surgery if it causes pain during twisting, turning, pivoting, or squatting...or if it’s a complex tear that risks further damage. Repairs can help prevent future arthritis in younger patients with healthy cartilage.
Tweet card summary image
drrobertlaprademd.com
A medial meniscus tear is more common than a lateral meniscus tear, because it is firmly attached to the deep medial collateral ligament and the joint capsule.
