TL;DR It’s expensive, a time suck, and I'm always fighting YT's shifting algo and glitchy AI models. Super fun to try, but not worth it long-term. Here’s a longer write-up if the story seems interesting.

5⃣ one interesting pattern: certain types of shorts consistently get high views. The best strategy is to find a winning format and keep repeating it. But honestly, after a few days of making the same style again and again, I got so bored 🥱.

4️⃣ Making videos is expensive, don’t expect to earn that money back anytime soon. Even after I leveled up my prompt skills, every 5s short is $0.50, and long vids were $5 each. It’s definitely not “make a video, make a dollar”. Most days I was just burning cash and laughing at

3️⃣ YT algo is a black box, and it keeps changing. The algo punishes “low-value” content. My traffic literally crashed overnight!. And it’s not just me: YT just updated their monetization rules to stop paying out for AI-generated videos.

2️⃣ I kept seeing viral AI animal cooking videos, so I tried making one myself and got 23 views 😭. Turns out just copying what’s trending doesn’t guarantee anything.

1️⃣ coming up with new ideas three times a day is brutal 🫠. I thought I could “hack it” by copying TikTok trends, like turning viral shorts into dog versions. But almost all of them totally flopped. I guess there’s just no shortcut for real creativity.

My stats after 19 shorts and 5 long vids:.- 38 subs.- 38.6k views.- 54 watch hours.- 553 likes. My most viral one got 9k views. It’s a 5s silent dog & cat clip, and it was only my second upload, so there might’ve been some newbie luck. Now, my learnings:
