Gina Nichols is staring daggers at Larry Nassar as she reads her daughter Maggie's statement. When she finishes Maggie's, she takes off her glasses and speaks directly to Larry, no notes. "My husband is a doctor. A REAL doctor that treats children, not HURTS them." Chills.
The whole U.S. group just did a jumping cheer for MyKayla Skinner. What a journey for her...missing trials in 2012, missing the Games in 2016, missing finals here and thinking her career was over, and now an Olympic silver medalist. The perfect ending to a hard-fought career.
“What shocks me the most is everyone’s so supportive. The amount of outpouring love and support I’ve had [since Tokyo] makes my heart warm and I can’t ask for anything more.”
Simone Biles also said she feels like everything is falling into place.
Rebeca Andrade makes history by becoming the first Brazilian woman to win a medal in artistic gymnastics at the Olympic Games!
Prior to her, Jade Barbosa's 10th place finish in 2008 was the country's best.
2023 World Championships Women's Team Final
🥇 United States 167.729
🥈 Brazil 165.530
🥉 France 164.064
Brazil makes history with its first-ever team medal at the world championships, breaking last year's 4th place record!
Oksana Chusovitina will miss the vault final after hitting her rudi and tsuk 1.5. Everyone in the arena gave her a standing ovation. She's crying and so am I.
She jumps back up onto the podium to wave goodbye.
Simone Biles gave Jordan Chiles an Olympic rings necklace after the competition. It's the same one Simone has.
"She said she was waiting a while to give it to me."
Glad she and her coaches know what's good for her. Saying "I need help" in the middle of the Olympics is probably the most difficult thing an athlete will have to do in this sport.
Simone’s face screams “you wouldn’t award my skill – one of the most difficult being done in women’s gymnastics – with a high enough difficulty rating because you think it’s ‘reckless’ and now you’re giving me an award for having the highest difficulty.” 💁🏿♀️
China 🇨🇳 and the USA 🇺🇸 were winners of the first Fujitsu Infinity Award - presented to the teams judged to have performed the highest difficulty skills at these World Championships.

Sunisa Lee is the first Asian-American Olympic all-around champion...and first individual Asian-American Olympic champion in general! Making the Hmong community SO PROUD.
Lee is also the sixth U.S. Olympic all-around champion. The U.S. has won every all-around gold since 2004.
Simone Biles with TOO MUCH POWER on her YURCHENKO DOUBLE PIKE to become the first woman in history to compete it. My head exploded. No matter how many times I'll see it, I'll always be in awe. 16.100 (6.6, 9.500)
While we wait for the medal ceremony...
If Simone Biles decides to withdraw from the all-around final, Jade Carey will go in her place as the first reserve for the U.S. women.
Simone Biles basically just stuck the Yurchenko double pike. The height she gets on that is literally impossible. I thought it was a piked timer at first and then was like wait, no, that was a legit double back. I'm normally like "I'M SCREAMING" but with that, I'm SPEECHLESS.
"Larry, I can't even put into words how much I f---ing hate you." -Mattie Larson
"There is another way. A healthy and supportive way to make champions."
A few people have asked for more info on the UCLA/Alexis Jeffrey situation and I said I didn't want to share info if it didn't come directly from people involved, but this video from Amanda Seales on IG sums up what happened + why the situation/how it was handled are so appalling

"Martha, did you keep Larry around because he was a good doctor? Or did you keep him around because you knew he'd let us compete while injured and keep your secrets?"
Hoda Kotb just yelled DO YOU ALL LOVE SIMONE BILES at the...photographers and media? To get her some applause. She's now like, freaking out jumping up and down, no one is more into this competition than Hoda.
Ten years ago, interviewing U.S. gymnasts was all about them nervously saying "I wanna hit four for four." Today, Morgan, Simone, and MyKayla all went OFF, on social justice, on Marta's culture, on USAG response post-Nassar...I'm blown away by how things have changed.
“The past 2 years have been absolutely crazy with COVID and my family, this medal means a lot to me because there was a point in time I wanted to quit and I didn’t think I’d ever get here. There are a lot of emotions but I’m super proud of myself for sticking with it.” - Suni Lee
The camera is on the gymnasts backstage before they come out for floor and when it gets to Simone Biles she just mega yawns right in everyone's face. And then she and Morgan Hurd die laughing. Same.
"It is my privilege to sentence you on counts 1, 2, 5, 8, 10, 18, and 24. If you somehow survive your federal sentence of 60 years, then I give you 175 years, which is 2100 months. I just signed your death sentence." -Judge Aquilina
Mattie Larson, a member of the 2010 worlds team, is speaking now. She was first abused at her first U.S. nationals at age 14, and was abused until she retired from elite.

Rebeca Andrade says that her medal represents all of the people of Brazil.
Angelina Melnikova thanks all of the doctors because she’s had a lot of problems. “These are the people who save us.”
Never in a million years did I anticipate this is how the 2020 Olympics would go for Simone. I'm so proud of her for doing what's best for herself, her mind, and her body, but I am also endlessly sad thinking about how she deserves so much more.
THIS!!!!!! It’s literally the reason she’s here and why they have her in almost every leadoff spot. Super difficult high scoring routines are important but so is a calm, confident utility player who can do anything anywhere. Her skillset is FAR more valuable than people realize!
Leanne did her job. If there were any errors or mistakes her clean and beautiful routines would’ve have covered. That’s the 4th persons job in QF. She inspires TRUST. The team can breathe because they know she’s got their backs. That role MATTERS 👏🏼

This is the 6th straight gold for the U.S. No other team has EVER done this!
Great Britain has never won silver as a team at worlds before – bronze in 2015 was their first and only!
Canada has never before won a team medal. EVER. THIS IS THEIR VERY FIRST!
THE HISTORY TONIGHT!
"I had never felt so small and disposable in my life." -Mattie re: 2010 worlds. Teammates tried to lift her spirits but she calls out Valeri Liukin as one of the adults who made her feel invisible and hopes that he's changed so the current gymnasts never have to feel like her.
Two Olympic all-around finals where the true best of the best did exactly what they needed to do and pushed each other to be as good as possible. Magnificent.
I still believe Rebeca Andrade would have rivaled Simone Biles on the world stage if she was healthy throughout her career. It may not have worked out the way she wanted, but she fought and finally got to compete at full strength to win an Olympic medal. SHE IS A LEGEND!
This is the first beam medal in Brazil's history! Before today, the highest finish on beam was 6th place, achieved by Flavia Saraiva in 2019 and Rebeca Andrade in 2021.
With the team medaling in Antwerp, Brazil has now medaled in every possible worlds final!
Suni Lee serves up a floor routine that matches everything else she's done tonight – PERFECTION! What a meet for her, such a statement to make on the night you become an Olympian.
Her AA score is a 58.166, which defeats Simone's 57.533 today.
In just about two months, the Russian women have ended the U.S. team and all-around golden reigns! The last time a non-American won an all-around world title was 11 years ago, when Aliya Mustafina got the gold.
"That was amazing. This is only my second final ever as a senior so to come back with a silver is awesome. In my mind, my second place is like first, because Jade is a phenomenal vaulter." – Jordan Chiles
Murakami Mai's 5th place finish is best in Japan's history! The top finish prior was Tanaka Keiko placing 6th at the Olympics in 1964, also held in Tokyo.
Jessica Gadirova's 10th place finish is the best in Great Britain's history, beating Becky Downie finishing 12th in 2008!
Rebeca Andrade qualifying into EVERY SINGLE FINAL (TF, AA, UB, BB, FX) *except* the one she was nearly a shoo-in to win hurts me right in the damn heart
